This document describes the COOL-LIVING™ CL-TIWC-08CRD1-8,000 BTU window air conditioner.

Function Description:

The COOL-LIVING™ CL-TIWC-08CRD1 is an 8,000 BTU window air conditioner designed to cool a room. It features a current measuring device in the power cord that detects damage, enhancing safety. The unit offers various operating modes including Cool, Dry, Fan, and Auto, allowing users to customize their cooling experience. It also includes a sleep mode for energy-efficient nighttime operation and an LED display that can be turned on or off.

Usage Features:

  • General Operations:
    • Power Button: Turns the air conditioner on or switches it to standby mode.
    • Increase/Decrease Buttons: Adjust the air conditioning temperature by 1°F/°C.
    • Swing/Oscillation Button: Controls the vertical louver movement. Press once to make the louver move up and down; press again to stop it at the desired angle. Horizontal airflow is adjusted manually.
    • Fan Speed Button: Adjusts fan speed (Low, Med, High, Auto). In Auto speed, fan speed adapts to room temperature. In Dry Mode, fan speed cannot be adjusted.
    • Filter Button: Resets the filter reminder after cleaning.
    • Mode Button: Cycles through Cool, Dry, Fan, and Auto modes.
      • Cool Mode: Cools the room to the desired temperature; fan speed is adjustable.
      • Dry Mode: Functions as a dehumidifier; fan runs at a low speed; temperature and fan speed cannot be adjusted.
      • Fan Mode: Circulates air like a normal fan; fan speed is adjustable (Low, Med, High); temperature cannot be adjusted.
      • Auto Mode: Adjusts its working mode (Cool or Fan) automatically based on room temperature; temperature and fan speed cannot be adjusted.
    • Timer Button: Sets a timer for the unit to turn on or off (from 0.5 to 24 hours).
    • ECO Mode Button: When the desired temperature is reached, the compressor turns off and the fan continues to run for 3 minutes. Then the fan cycles on for 1 minute at 5-minute intervals until the room temperature is above the set temperature, at which time the compressor turns back on and cooling restarts.
    • Sleep Mode Button: Adjusts the air conditioning temperature gradually every 30 minutes to keep you comfortable while preventing overcooling. After 10 hours, Sleep mode exits automatically, and the temperature returns to the initial temperature. All button sounds are muted, and all indicators on the display will turn off after 15 seconds, except for the Sleep mode indicator.
    • LED Display Button: Turns on or off the display on the air conditioner. Long press for 5 seconds to switch between °F/°C.
  • Remote Control: Provides full control over the air conditioner's functions, including power, temperature adjustment, fan speed, swing, timer, ECO mode, sleep mode, and LED display. It requires two batteries.
  • Safety Features:
    • Current Detection Device: In the power cord to reduce fire risk. If the power supply cord is damaged, it cannot be repaired and must be replaced with a cord from the manufacturer.
    • RESET Button: Located on the power cord plug; must be pushed in for correct operation.
    • Protective Time Delay: Approximately 3 minutes to prevent compressor overload tripping when power is restored.
    • R32 Refrigerant Handling: Requires specific safety measures during installation, maintenance, and disposal due to its flammability. This includes working in well-ventilated areas, avoiding open flames, and using anti-static measures.

Maintenance Features:

  • Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter should be checked at least once a month. It can be pulled out, washed with liquid dish soap and warm water, rinsed, and allowed to dry completely. Alternatively, it can be vacuumed to remove dust and particles. Never operate the unit without the air filter or use hot water over 104°F (40°C).
  • Cabinet Cleaning: The cabinet and front panel can be dusted with an oil-free cloth or washed with a damp cloth and mild liquid soap. Avoid harsh cleaners, wax, or polish. Ensure excess water is wrung from the cloth to prevent damage to controls.
  • Winter Storage: For extended periods of non-use, remove the air conditioner from the window according to installation instructions and cover it with plastic or store it in its original box.
  • Filter Reminder: The filter reminder light illuminates after the fan runs for 500 hours, indicating that the filter needs cleaning.
  • Display Auto Off: The display will dim after 30 seconds (off after 15 seconds in sleep mode). It can be woken up by pressing any button.
  • Drain Water: Condensate will not overflow during normal use. If the fan hits built-up water and causes noise, remove the cap at the back of the air conditioner to drain the water.

Important Safety Instructions:

  • Read all instructions and cautionary markings before operation and installation.
  • Do not use the product for functions other than those described in the manual.
  • Unplug the appliance before cleaning or if strange sounds, smells, or smoke occur.
  • Do not press control panel buttons with anything other than fingers.
  • Do not operate or stop the appliance by inserting or pulling out the power cord plug.

  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons.
  • Disconnect from the supply mains prior to cleaning or maintenance.
  • Do not use if the appliance is not working properly, or if it has been dropped or damaged.
  • Do not run cords under carpeting or furniture.
  • Do not operate with a damaged cord, plug, power fuse, or circuit breaker.
  • Do not use this fan with any solid-state speed control device.
  • Install in accordance with national wiring regulations.
  • Contact authorized service technicians for repair/maintenance and authorized installers for installation.
  • Do not cover or obstruct inlet or outlet grilles.
  • Ensure proper ventilation and avoid open flames when installing or maintaining R32 refrigerant models.
  • Wear protective clothing and anti-static gloves when working with R32 refrigerant.
  • Do not use mobile phones during refrigerant handling.
  • Ensure the installation site is well-ventilated and free from heat sources or combustible environments.
  • If refrigerant leaks indoors, personnel should evacuate for 15 minutes.
  • Avoid placing the unit near electrical products, power switches, plugs, sockets, kitchen cabinets, beds, sofas, and other valuables.
  • Regularly check for signs of damage like a damaged power cord/plug, loud noise, unusual smell, or excessive heat.
