Procedure
1.
Explain
monitoring
procedure
to
patient.
2.
Place
strap
under
patient.
3.
Connect
the
transducer
cable
to
the
side
panel
UA
connec-
tor.
Depress
POWER
and
RECORD
pushbuttons
if
off.
4.
Depress
UA
Reference
pushbutton
for
1
second.
(Count
“one,
one
thousand’’).
5.
Insert
the
strap
through
one
slot
of
the
tocotransducer.
6.
Place
the
transducer
on
the
maternal
abdomen
over
the
uterine
fundus
or
where
there
is
the
least
maternal
tissue.
7.
Insert
the
other
end
of
the
strap
into
the
remaining
slot
and
tighten
sufficiently
to
hold
the
transducer
securely
in
place.
The
tracing
on
the
recorder
should
plot
approximately
one
third
of
the
way
up
from
the
bottom
on
the
UA
scale
(between
contractions).
