Removing Dominator Cooling Fins
4
Once the cooling fins are removed, the modules are ready for the installation of upgraded
cooling fins or custom cooling solutions. The grey material on the top of the heat sinks is
thermal interface material or TIM. This is a thermally conductive material used to facilitate
heat transfer from the heat sinks to the cooling fins. This material can be retained if needed
and reused with the replacement fins or cooling solution or it can be discarded if not
needed. You may want to retain it in the event that you need to reinstall the original cooling
fin.
