Overview

The COXO C-SMART-I PILOT Endo Motors device is an endodontic treatment motorized handpiece with root canal measurement capability. It is primarily used in dental root canal preparation for various pulp and root canal treatments. This instrument is designed for use in hospital environments, clinics, or dental offices by qualified practitioners.

Function Description:

The device integrates three primary modes:

  • Endo Motor Mode: Used for root canal preparation. This mode is automatically engaged if no test wire is connected to the instrument.
  • Apex Locator Mode: Used for root canal length measurement.
  • Multi-function Mode: Combines both root canal measurement and preparation functionalities.

The handpiece is motorized and works in conjunction with a control unit. It allows for the enlargement of canals while simultaneously monitoring the position of the file tip inside the canal. The system supports both rotary and reciprocating modes, with specific instructions for each to prevent damage to instruments.

Usage Features:

  • User Interface: The device features a touch screen control unit for easy operation. It displays real-time information such as RPM, Ncm, selected NITI system, and file details.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity: The handpiece connects to the control unit via Bluetooth. Default Bluetooth is connected automatically upon powering on both units. Pairing is required only after replacing the control unit or handpiece. The Bluetooth indicator on the handpiece flashes blue when not connected and remains solid when paired.
  • Contra-angle Connection: The contra-angle connects to the handpiece by aligning the locating slot and pin. Disconnection is achieved by pulling it straight out.
  • File Insertion: Files are inserted by holding down the push button on the contra-angle and gently inserting the file until it locks. To disconnect, press the push button and pull out the file.
  • Adjustable Settings: Users can adjust motor speed (RPM) and torque (Ncm) using the increase/decrease buttons on the control unit. The device also allows selection of different NITI systems and files within those systems.
  • Torque Reverse Function: An on/off torque reverse function is available.
  • Screen Brightness: The screen brightness can be adjusted to high, medium, or low settings.
  • Button Sound: The button sound can be switched on or off.
  • Safety Features: The device includes warnings against using damaged files, operating in explosive or oxygen-enriched environments, and using the product near flammable gases. It also emphasizes the importance of proper cleaning and sterilization to prevent infection.
  • Pre-treatment Checks: Users are instructed to check the power cable, instrument, and components for any damage before use.
  • Contraindications: The device should not be used on patients with implanted heart pacemakers or other electrical implants if cautioned against small electrical appliances. Safety and effectiveness have not been established in pregnant women and children.

Maintenance Features:

  • Charging: Both the control unit and handpiece require charging before first use. The handpiece is placed in its charger, and the adapter is connected to the main power supply. The control unit screen displays charging status, and the handpiece charging light (orange) flashes during charging and turns green when fully charged. The first charge takes more than 4 hours.
  • Repair Service: For repairs, users should contact the manufacturer or authorized dealers. The manufacturer guarantees proper function for 24 months from the date of purchase.
  • Safety Checks: After any interventions or repairs, service personnel must perform safety checks on the instrument before re-use.
  • Cleaning and Sterilization: Medical instruments and accessories must be reprocessed and sterilized before and after each use, following the instructions provided. The procedure has been validated by the manufacturer.
  • Disposal: When disposing of the old electrical instrument, ensure that pollution is not produced, in accordance with country-specific principles, standards, and requirements. Prior to disposal, the product and accessories must be appropriately reprocessed or sterilized.
  • Environmental Conditions: The device should be operated in environments with temperatures between +5°C and +40°C, humidity between 20% and 80%, and atmospheric pressure between 86kPa and 106kPa. For transport and storage, the temperature range is -10°C to +55°C, humidity ≤ 93% (without condensation), and atmospheric pressure between 50 kPa and 106 kPa.
  • Liquid Ingress Prevention: The product should only be used in dry, non-electrically conductive environments. Prevent liquid from entering openings and do not place the product in long or narrow containers. If liquid is detected, disconnect the power cable immediately.
