If the recoil cord is hard to pull, there might be an obstruction in the impeller; disconnect the spark plug wire before removing any object. Inspect the spark plug, clean, adjust the gap, or replace it if needed. Ensure the safety switch is activated by the front tab on the bag handle, and that the safety switch wire is correctly connected to the engine and grounded to the mounting bracket.

A foreign object could also be lodged in the impeller; stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire, and remove any obstruction. Ensure the engine is running at full throttle and that the vacuum bag is not full; empty the bag if necessary.
