Why won't my Craftsman Yard Vacuum engine start?
    • C
      Corey RileyJul 26, 2025
If the Craftsman Yard Vacuum engine fails to start, ensure the throttle lever is in the FAST or START position. Also, check that the spark plug wire is securely connected to the spark plug. Verify the choke is in the ON position and that the fuel tank isn't empty or filled with stale fuel. If the recoil cord is hard to pull, there might be an obstruction in the impeller; disconnect the spark plug wire before removing any object. Inspect the spark plug, clean, adjust the gap, or replace it if needed. Ensure the safety switch is activated by the front tab on the bag handle, and that the safety switch wire is correctly connected to the engine and grounded to the mounting bracket.

      anneallenAug 1, 2025
If your Craftsman Yard Vacuum engine runs erratically, start by checking the spark plug wire to ensure it is connected and tight. Make sure the unit isn't running on CHOKE by moving the choke lever to the OFF position. Inspect the fuel line for blockages or stale fuel; clean the fuel line and refill the tank with fresh gasoline. Always run the engine at full throttle to maintain proper RPM. Also, check for water or dirt in the fuel system; drain the tank and refill with fresh fuel. Finally, inspect the air cleaner and clean or replace it if it's dirty.

What to do if my Craftsman Yard Vacuum does not discharge?
    • C
      Caitlyn WaltersAug 7, 2025
If the Craftsman Yard Vacuum isn't discharging, the discharge area might be clogged. Immediately stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire, and clean the flail screen and the inside of the discharge opening. A foreign object could also be lodged in the impeller; stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire, and remove any obstruction. Ensure the engine is running at full throttle and that the vacuum bag is not full; empty the bag if necessary.
