The Crane Air Purifier with Fan, model EE-5073, is a compact desktop appliance designed to improve indoor air quality and provide air circulation. It integrates both air purification and fan functionalities, making it a versatile device for personal spaces.

Function Description:

The primary function of this device is to purify the air using a multi-level filtration system and to provide adjustable airflow with its integrated fan. The air purification process involves a True HEPA filter and a UV-C bulb. The True HEPA filter is designed to capture initial dust and allergen particles, extending the life of the main HEPA filter by removing larger particles like visible dust, hair, and lint. The UV-C bulb works to reduce germs from growing within the HEPA filter, contributing to cleaner air. The fan component allows for adjustable airflow, with three speed settings (low, medium, high), and the fan head can be adjusted up to 90 degrees to direct the airflow as desired.

Usage Features:

The device features a simple control panel with two main buttons:

  • Fan Power Button (Top): Used to activate and adjust the fan speed. Pressing it once, twice, or three times cycles through low, medium, and high speeds, respectively. A long press turns the fan off. A light illuminates with each fan speed level, and all lights remain illuminated on high speed.
  • Air Purifier Power Button (Bottom): Used to activate and deactivate the air purifier mode. A blue light on the front of the unit indicates when the air purifier is active.
  • Adjustable Fan Head: The fan head can be manually lifted and adjusted up to 90 degrees from its base, allowing users to customize the direction of airflow. A slight click indicates when it's moved from a locked position, and another click confirms it's locked back into its original position.
  • Placement: For optimal performance, the air purifier should be placed on a sturdy, level surface at least 3 feet away from walls or furniture to ensure proper airflow. It should not be placed on metal shelving. The outlet grill should face away from the nearest wall or furniture, and both intake and outlet grills must not be blocked.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always plug and unplug the unit with dry hands.
    • Never operate with a damaged cord or plug.
    • Keep the cord away from heavy traffic areas, heat registers, radiators, stoves, or heaters.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the safe and effective operation of the air purifier.

  • Filter Replacement: The filter typically needs to be replaced every 3-6 months, depending on air quality and usage. There is no filter reset indicator.
    1. Always turn off and unplug the unit before replacing the filter.
    2. Turn the unit upside down, twist the bottom base cover to the "unlock" position, and lift it off.
    3. Discard the old filter; do not attempt to wash it.
    4. Insert the new filter (Replacement Filter #HS-1957, available online at www.crane-usa.com).
    5. Place the base cover back on, twist it to the "lock" position, and then turn the unit right side up.
  • Cleaning:
    1. Always unplug the unit before cleaning.
    2. The exterior can be wiped with a lightly damp cloth.
    3. Do not allow water to enter the intake and outlet grills.
    4. Do not use gasoline, polish, or any chemical solutions for cleaning.
    5. The intake and outlet grills can be cleaned of dust with a small soft brush.
    6. If cleaning the inside, remove the filter and use only a dry, soft cloth to wipe it down lightly.
  • Storage: Store the air purifier in a dry location. Avoid placing heavy items on top of it during storage to prevent damage. Store the cord in a clean, dry location away from metal objects.

Troubleshooting:

If the air purifier with fan does not operate, check the following:

  • Ensure the filter is inserted correctly and the base cover is screwed into place.
  • Verify that the unit is plugged in securely at both the unit and the wall.
  • Confirm the power cord is plugged into a working power outlet. If the airflow is reduced, ensure that the intake and outlet grills are not blocked by debris and that the filter is clean and may need replacement.
