Overview

This document is a user manual for the Crane Tower Air Purifier, model EE-5069.

Function Description

The Crane Tower Air Purifier is designed to improve indoor air quality by filtering out various airborne particles and reducing germs. It utilizes a multi-level filtration system, including a Particle Filter, a HEPA Filter, an Activated Carbon Filter, and a UV Bulb. The device is intended for household use and aims to provide a cleaner and healthier living environment.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model: EE-5069
  • Rating Voltage: 120 V 60 Hz
  • Power Supply: 33 W
  • UVC Bulb: 3 W
  • Weight: 7.7 lbs. (including the filter)
  • HEPA Filter Efficiency: Removes at least 99.97% of all particles as small as 0.3 microns.

Usage Features

The air purifier features a control panel with several buttons for various functions:

  • Power Button: Turns the air purifier on and off.
  • Fan Speed Button: Allows selection of four fan speeds: Low (I), Medium (II), High (III), and Turbo. The unit starts on Medium Speed when first powered on.
  • UV/Sleep Button: Controls the UV Bulb and Sleep Mode. Press once to turn on the UV bulb, twice for Sleep Mode, three times to turn off the UV bulb, and four times to deactivate Sleep Mode. In Sleep Mode, indicator lights blink 10 times and then turn off, and the fan speed defaults to Low. Any button press on the control panel deactivates Sleep Mode.
  • Timer Button: Sets the operating time for 2, 4, or 8 hours, after which the unit will automatically turn off. Pressing the button until no indicator lights are lit returns to continuous run time.
  • Auto/Light Button: Controls Auto Mode and the Air Quality Indicator Light. In Auto Mode, the purifier automatically adjusts its fan speed based on the room's air quality.
  • Air Quality Light Indicator: Provides a visual indication of the air quality.
  • Polarized Plug: Features a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) as a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock.
  • Automatic Safety Shut-off: The unit has an automatic safety shut-off switch if the base cover is not securely locked or the bulb housing is not correctly replaced.

Before First Use: Users must remove the plastic from the filter. The unit should be placed on a firm, level, flat surface, at least 3 feet from any wall or furniture, and away from heat sources, electronic devices sensitive to electrical fields, and metal shelving. Intake and outlet grills must not be blocked.

Maintenance Features

The air purifier requires regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Filter System: The air purifier incorporates a multi-level filtration system:

  • Level 1: Particle Filter: Captures initial dust and allergen particles, extending the life of the HEPA filter. It traps visible dust, hair, and lint. This filter should be cleaned regularly.
  • Level 2: HEPA Filter: A true HEPA filter that removes 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, including pollen, smoke, animal dander, mold spores, and dust. The HEPA filter is not washable and must be replaced when the Filter Reset light illuminates, typically every 3-6 months, depending on air quality and usage.
  • Level 3: Activated Carbon Filter: Absorbs common household odors from tobacco, pets, garbage, and cooking.
  • Level 4: UV Bulb: An ultraviolet bulb that helps reduce germs from growing in the HEPA filter. A blue UV Indicator Light indicates when the UV Bulb is ON (unless in Sleep Mode).

Replacing the HEPA Filter:

  1. Turn off and unplug the air purifier.
  2. Unlock the base cover by sliding the base lock and lifting the top.
  3. Discard the old HEPA filter (do not wash).
  4. Insert the new filter.
  5. Replace the top onto the base and re-lock the base cover.
  6. Hold the POWER button down for 5 seconds until it beeps to reset the filter indicator. Replacement HEPA Filter HS-1943 can be purchased online at www.crane-usa.com.

Replacing the UV Bulb: The UV bulb is designed for approximately one year of continuous operation, after which its effectiveness is significantly reduced. It should be replaced annually or if the blue UV bulb does not illuminate when the UV switch is ON.

  1. Unplug the unit and turn it upside down. Remove the base and filter.
  2. Slowly loosen the SINGLE SILVER screw.
  3. Twist off the bulb's protective casing counterclockwise and pull it off to reveal the UV light bulb.
  4. Grasp the wire connectors just under the bulb housing and gently disconnect them by squeezing the side and top notches.
  5. Holding the bulb housing straight up, SLOWLY slide the UV bulb out, keeping rubber protectors in place. SLOWLY slide the new bulb into the housing to fit into the top and bottom rubber protectors (DO NOT FORCE).
  6. Grasp the wire connectors from the purifier and bulb housing and reconnect by pushing together.
  7. Re-attach the bulb housing by first twisting clockwise back onto the unit and then tightening the SILVER screw.
  8. Insert filter and reattach the base cover. Caution: Always ensure the air purifier is OFF and UNPLUGGED. Use caution when handling the UV bulb to prevent accidental breakage. NEVER touch the glass part of the bulb; use gloves or handle it only by the metal area. If the UV bulb breaks, turn the unit off, do not operate, and dispose of debris properly according to local waste management authority instructions.

Cleaning the Air Purifier:

  • Always unplug the unit before cleaning.
  • The exterior can be cleaned with a lightly damp cloth.
  • DO NOT allow water to get into the intake and outlet grills.
  • DO NOT use gasoline, polish, or any chemical solution.
  • The intake and outlet grills can be cleaned of dust with a small soft brush.
  • For light cleaning inside the air purifier, remove filters and use ONLY a dry, soft cloth.
  • No part of the air purifier should be placed in the dishwasher.

Storing Your Purifier: Store the air purifier in a dry location. Avoid placing heavy items on top of the unit. Store the cord in a clean, dry location away from metal objects.
