Overview

The Crestron Flex UC-C100-T-WM is an integrator kit designed for video conferencing solutions, specifically optimized for use with Microsoft Teams® Rooms software. This kit provides a customizable and comprehensive setup for modern meeting spaces, supporting both single and dual video displays. A key feature of this system is its wall-mounted touch screen, which serves as the primary control interface, offering intuitive interaction with the Microsoft Teams Rooms environment. The system also includes a UC bracket assembly, which houses the core components and facilitates a streamlined installation.

Function Description

The primary function of the UC-C100-T-WM is to enable high-quality video conferencing within a Microsoft Teams Rooms ecosystem. It acts as the central hub for connecting various audio and video peripherals, processing content, and managing the meeting experience. The UC Engine, a critical component housed within the UC bracket assembly, runs the Microsoft Teams Rooms software, providing the platform for scheduling, joining, and conducting meetings.

The system is designed to integrate with a certified USB camera and an AEC-enabled USB speakerphone or DSP device (neither of which are included in the kit), allowing users to select peripherals that best suit their specific room size and acoustic requirements. It supports the connection of one or two video displays, enabling flexible presentation options for meeting participants. Content sharing is a core capability, allowing users to connect a laptop to the system for presenting documents, presentations, or other media during a meeting. The system also supports the integration with Microsoft Exchange Server® (2013 SP1 or later) or Microsoft 365® for scheduling, and Skype for Business 2015 or Microsoft 365 for Cloud for communication, ensuring compatibility with common enterprise communication platforms.

The wall-mounted touch screen provides a dedicated and always-on interface for controlling the Microsoft Teams Rooms experience. From this touch screen, users can initiate meetings, join scheduled calls, manage participants, control camera functions (if supported by the connected camera), and share content. The touch screen's wall-mount design ensures it is always accessible and neatly integrated into the room's aesthetic.

Usage Features

The UC-C100-T-WM emphasizes ease of use and flexible deployment. The system offers two primary connection methods for the touch screen to the UC Engine: direct connection and network connection. A direct connection simplifies installation and setup, making it ideal for straightforward deployments where the touch screen communicates directly with the UC Engine via a dedicated adapter and PoE injector. This method is particularly useful for smaller rooms or when network management is not a primary concern.

For more complex environments or when remote management is desired, the system supports a network connection. This allows the touch screen to communicate with the UC Engine over the local area network, enabling the system to be managed by Crestron's XiO Cloud® service. XiO Cloud provides a robust platform for monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting multiple Crestron devices across an enterprise, offering features like remote firmware updates, device health monitoring, and configuration management.

The system's design allows for a clean and organized installation. The UC bracket assembly is designed to be mounted to VESA® compliant display devices, a wall, or other building structures, providing flexibility in placement. The kit includes anchors and screws for installation on walls of varying thicknesses. Integrated cable tie wraps on the bracket assembly help in bundling and organizing cables, contributing to a tidy and professional appearance. These cable tie wraps are reusable, allowing for adjustments during installation or maintenance without needing new ties.

The setup process involves connecting various components such as the USB camera, USB audio source (speakerphone or DSP), video displays, and a laptop for content ingest. Clear instructions are provided for each connection, ensuring that users can correctly assemble the system. The touch screen configuration involves accessing its web interface to enter details such as the UC Engine's IP address or hostname, port number, and login credentials, which are necessary for the touch screen to communicate with and control the Microsoft Teams Rooms software running on the UC Engine.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance of the UC-C100-T-WM system is streamlined through its design and integration capabilities. A significant maintenance feature is the centralized firmware management. The firmware for all connected peripherals is managed by the UC Engine, and Windows Update handles the operating system updates. This centralized approach simplifies the update process, ensuring that all components are running the latest software versions for optimal performance and security.

For systems connected to a network, the XiO Cloud® service offers advanced maintenance and management capabilities. This cloud-based platform allows administrators to remotely monitor the health and status of the UC-C100-T-WM system, including the UC Engine and connected peripherals. It can provide alerts for potential issues, enabling proactive troubleshooting and minimizing downtime. Remote configuration updates and firmware deployments can also be performed through XiO Cloud, reducing the need for on-site visits and streamlining maintenance tasks across multiple rooms or locations.

The physical design of the UC bracket assembly, with its integrated cable tie wraps, contributes to easier maintenance by keeping cables organized. This organization makes it simpler to identify and access specific cables for troubleshooting or replacement, should the need arise. The reusability of the cable ties further aids in this process, allowing for adjustments without requiring new materials.

The system's reliance on certified USB cameras and AEC-enabled USB speakerphones or DSP devices means that users can select robust and reliable peripherals that are designed for long-term operation. While these peripherals are not included in the kit, their compatibility with the UC-C100-T-WM ensures that the overall system benefits from the reliability and support provided by these certified devices.

In summary, the UC-C100-T-WM is designed to be a robust and manageable video conferencing solution. Its focus on integration with Microsoft Teams Rooms, flexible connectivity options, and centralized management features, especially when paired with XiO Cloud, aims to provide a reliable and easy-to-maintain system for modern meeting environments.
