Corrosion Prevention
Airborne salt (coastal environments) should be rinsed off of the vehicle daily to avoid
long term corrosion issues.
Bi-weekly spray wax is recommend for non aluminum parts such as seat belt
buckles and accessory nuts & bolts, etc.
Bi-weekly WD-40 lubricant (or equivalent) should be applied to moving parts,
including rack & pinion steering, shocks, etc.
Bi-weekly check battery water levels. Top off with clean distilled water.
Regularly check battery terminal connections to make sure all are secured and
lubricated. Loose connections can cause dangerous sparking.
Regularly check for loose nuts, bolts and brackets and tighten as needed.
Solar Top Maintenance (if vehicle is so equipped)
The solar is designed to be simple to maintain as it has no moving parts. However, it should
be kept clean with a mild window detergent. The panel serves as a trickle charger for the
batteries and works to keep the batteries topped off. The charge controller senses when the
batteries are completely charged and will automatically close the circuit to prevent
overcharging. The solar charging system does not always update the battery level indicator,
so it is recommend to briefly plug in the wall charger for the meter to reset to the proper level.
The battery manufacturer suggests plugging the vehicle to the wall unit as least once a month
to properly calibrate the batteries.
