N.B. The maximum duration for co ee maker to shut o is 38 minutes.
• Turn the function dial to AUTO ON. The current time is now displayed.
N.B. For fewer than 5 cups, turn the function dial to
then push .
• Select co ee strength by pressing the
button for regular co ee or button for strong
co ee.
• Press
to engage the automatic programming. The button is switched o and the AUTO
ON button is switched on.
• At the programmed time, the brewing cycle starts and the red indicator light will come on.
E. AUTOMATIC DESCALING
Use after use, scale builds up. Scale interfers with  ne mechanics and gives co ee a hard
and bitter taste. That is why the appliance should be regularly descaled to ensure good
quality co ee. The descaling frequency depends upon the hardness of your tap water and how
often you use the co emaker.
• When the co eemaker needs descaling, the descaling indicator light next to the
button
begins to  ash when the co ee is turned on.
• Descale the co ee maker with a descaling solution, following the manufacturers guidelines.
• Press the
button and press . The descaling indicator light stays on. The co eemaker is now
in “automatic descaling” mode.
• When the cycle is completed, 5 beeps sound.
• A single descaling cycle is generally enough. Press
to see if the descaling light continues
to  ash. If not, the co eemaker is descaled. If the indicator light continues to  ash, repeat the
descaling operation.
• When the appliance is descaled, rinse by running a complete cycle with fresh water:  ll the
reservoir up to its maximum level with cold fresh water (without co ee nor  lter). Press
and
let water  ow.
NOTE: Pressing the descaling button cancels all other settings. If it is pressed accidentally, press it
again to return the co eemaker to all its previous settings.
6. HINTS & TIPS
• For a more  avourful co ee, use freshly ground co ee. Its  avour and aroma will develop even
further when brewing.
• For a lightly  avoured co ee, place a cinnamon stick, some vanilla or a cardamom seed, for
example, in the co ee pot.
• Reheating co ee that has gone cold is not recommended. Its taste will be altered and it will lose
its aroma.
