A message is displayed as appropriate. Depress

A message is displayed for a few seconds.
Depressing the brake pedal may cause vibra-

harder because the braking distance increases
due to the reduced brake servo assistance.

km/h (9-12 mph).

alised workshop.
The brake assist systems make noises
When the described brake assist systems inter-
vene, you may hear noises.
WARNING
• When the ignition is switched on, the sta-
tus of the brake system and the brake as-
sist functions are automatically checked. The
control lamps on the instrument cluster light
up briey and then go out. Any indicator
lamp that remains on indicates a fault. Seek
qualied technical assistance immediately.
•
If the brake system warning light comes
on together with the control lamp, the ABS
regulation function may not work and the
rear wheels may lock relatively quickly when
braking. This can lead to loss of control of
the vehicle! If possible, slow down and drive
slowly and carefully to the nearest specialist
workshop to have the brake system inspec-
ted. During this journey, avoid heavy braking
and any sudden manoeuvres.
•
If the control lamp does not go out, or
comes on while driving, it means that the
ABS is not working properly. The vehicle can
only be stopped using normal braking (with-
out ABS). In this case the protective ABS
function will not be available. Go to a special-
ised workshop as soon as possible.
