RING CENTRAL CONFIGURATION GUIDE: V3 PAGING SERVER
Doc. 931042C Page 30
7.0 Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My paging server shows it is registered in the web interface. However, calls do not connect
to the paging extension. What can I do to fix this?
A: CyberData VoIP Technical Support has identified a registration bug affecting firmware
versions 7.0.0 and 7.1.0. The bug results in the paging server periodically losing registration
with RingCentral, where all calls to the paging server will fail until it registers again. You may
be experiencing this issue with the paging extension or the Nightringer extension.
There are two workaround options:
1. Downgrade the firmware to version 6.3.1. You’re welcome to download firmware
version 6.3.0 from our website here.
Firmware upgrades are HTTP based and can be performed using a web browser.
Firmware upgrade instructions and advisories are located in Section 2.5 “Upgrading the
Firmware” on pages 63-65 of the Operations Guide (pgs. 71-73 of the .pdf).
After upgrading firmware, please be sure to back up your configuration and perform a
factory reset. Factory reset instructions are located in Section 2.3.7 “Restore the Factory
Default Settings” on page 12 of the Operations Guide (pg. 20 of the.pdf).
After restoring defaults and reconfiguring your paging server, be sure to set the Re-
registration Interval (in seconds) to 100 seconds on the SIP configuration page for the
paging extension. Setting the Re-registration Interval (in seconds) to 100 seconds allows
all calls to the speaker in the paging group to be successfully completed.
Please note the lowest value for the Re-registration Interval (in seconds) setting on
firmware version 6.3.1 is 100 seconds. However, if the paging server receives a request
in a SIP 200 OK contact binding for a lower interval than 100 seconds, it will actually
register every 30 seconds. The paging server is hard coded to deduct a certain number of
seconds from the configured interval in order to re-register in a timely manner.
Please be advised it is not possible to use the Nightringer extension with RingCentral on
firmware version 6.3.1. See option 2.
2. GA candidate firmware version 7.1.1b09, as documented in this configuration guide, is
undergoing long-term Quality Assurance testing and includes a fix for the registration
issues mentioned here.
Contact CyberData VoIP Technical Support for access to the GA candidate ahead of the
GA release. Please be advised the firmware version number may change at the discretion
of CyberData Corporation.
