The Dash Egg Cooker Deluxe (Model DXEC01) is an electrical appliance designed to simplify the process of cooking eggs in various styles, including soft, medium, and hard-boiled, as well as poached eggs and omelettes. Its primary function is to cook eggs using steam generated from a measured amount of water, eliminating the need for constant monitoring or additional timers.
The Egg Cooker Deluxe operates by heating water on a Heating Plate, which then generates steam to cook the eggs. The appliance automatically shuts off and sounds a buzzer when all the water has evaporated, indicating that the eggs are done. This feature ensures consistent results without overcooking. The device is capable of cooking up to 12 eggs at once, offering flexibility for individual meals or larger batches.
The Egg Cooker Deluxe comes with several components to facilitate different cooking methods:
Boiling Eggs: To boil eggs, users first pierce the larger end of each egg with a pin located on the bottom of the Measuring Cup. This helps prevent cracking during cooking. A specific amount of cold water, determined by the desired egg consistency (soft, medium, or hard-boiled) and the number of eggs, is poured onto the Heating Plate using the provided Measuring Cup. The eggs are then placed in either the Large Boiling Tray (for up to 8 eggs) or the Small Boiling Tray (for up to 4 eggs), ensuring the pierced end faces upwards and the eggs do not touch the Heating Plate. The Base Ring is placed over the Large Boiling Tray, and the Small Boiling Tray is set on top of the Base Ring if cooking more than 8 eggs. The Lid is then placed on top, and the Power Switch is pressed to start cooking. Once the buzzer sounds, the Power Switch is pressed again to silence it, and the eggs are carefully removed using heat-resistant tongs. Soaking the cooked eggs in ice water or running them under cold water immediately after cooking is recommended to stop the cooking process and make peeling easier.
Poaching Eggs: For poached eggs, 3 oz. of water is poured onto the Heating Plate. The Large Boiling Tray is placed on the Body, followed by a lightly greased 4 Egg Poaching Tray on top. Eggs are broken into each section of the poaching tray. The Base Ring is then added, and if more eggs are being poached, a lightly greased 3 Egg Poaching Tray is placed on top of the Small Boiling Tray, with additional eggs broken into its sections. The Lid is replaced, and the Egg Cooker is turned on. The buzzer will sound when the eggs are poached, and they should be removed immediately to prevent overcooking. The manual also provides a guideline for mixing and matching, such as cooking 4 poached eggs and 4 soft-boiled eggs with 3 oz. of water.
Making Omelettes: Similar to poaching, 3 oz. of water is used for omelettes. The Large Boiling Tray is placed on the Body, and a lightly greased Omelette Bowl is set on top. Eggs (typically 2-3 for a standard omelette, or up to 7 for mini omelettes in the poaching trays) are whisked and poured into the Omelette Bowl. Additional ingredients like basil, spinach, mozzarella, and tomatoes can be sprinkled over the whisked egg. The Lid is then covered, and the Egg Cooker is turned on. When the buzzer sounds, the omelette is ready and should be removed promptly. For mini omelettes, the Poaching Trays are used, with whisked egg mixture poured evenly into each section (one egg per section, or 3 tablespoons of egg white mixture). Toppings can be added before covering and turning on the cooker. The manual suggests various topping ideas for both mini and large omelettes.
Measuring Water: The Measuring Cup is crucial for adding the correct amount of water. For measurements exceeding 2.5 oz., the cup needs to be filled twice. For example, to measure 5 oz. of water, the cup is filled to the 2.5 oz. line twice. For omelettes or poached eggs, measuring 3 oz. of water involves filling the cup to 2 oz., emptying it onto the plate, then refilling to 1 oz. and emptying again.
