Removing the Center Control Cover

1. Follow the procedures in Before You Begin.

2. Turnthecomputeroverandremovethescrewsthatsecurethehingecovertothebatterybay.FortheVostro™A840,therearefourscrews.Forthe
Vostro™A860,thereareeightscrews.

3. Turn the computer over and open the display as far as possible.


4. Pry out the center control cover from left to right.

5. Remove the center control cover.

NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface
(such as a connector on the back of the computer).
NOTICE: To help prevent damage to the system board, you must remove the battery from the battery bay before you begin working inside the
computer.
NOTICE: Be extremely careful when removing the center control cover. The cable connector is very fragile.
