ATEX Special Conditions for Safe Use for the [ib] HART communication port only:
• The intrinsically safe output on the HART Communicator Port is internally connected to ground and will therefore
not withstand a dielectric strength test.
• For installations in which both the Ci and Li of the intrinsically safe apparatus exceeds 1% of the Co and Lo
parameters of the associated apparatus (excluding the cable), then 50% of Co and Lo parameters are applicable
and shall not be exceeded. The reduced capacitance shall not be greater than 1 µF for Groups IIA and/or IIB, and
600 nF for Group IIC.
• The Infrared Hydrocarbon Gas Detectors shall be powered from a Safety Isolating Transformer according to EN/
IEC60742 or EN/IEC61588.
WARNING
Always ensure that the detector/junction box hazardous (classied) location ratings are applicable for the
intended use.
Additional Safety Notes:
• For ambient temperatures below –10°C, use field wiring suitable for the expected conditions, and for ambient
temperatures above +60°C, use field wiring suitable for 20°C above the maximum expected conditions.
