Proper hand position requires one hand on the mainhandle.
Preparing the Tool (Fig. A)
1. Remove battery pack and all nails from themagazine.
2. Check if the contact trip

and nail pusher can movefreely.
3. Reload the nails to themagazine.
WARNING: Do not use the tool if the contact trip or nail
pusher cannot movefreely.
CAUTION: NEVER spray or in any other way apply
lubricants or cleaning solvents inside the tool. This can
seriously affect the life and performance of thetool.
Actuating the Tool (Fig. A)
The DCN660 can be operated using one of two modes:
sequential action mode or bump actionmode.
The DCN661 operates in sequential modeonly.
Sequential Action Mode
The sequential action mode is used for intermittent nailing
when very careful and accurate placement isdesired.
1. Use the mode selector switch

, select the sequential
action mode. (DCN660 only)
2. Release the trigger lock-off

3. Push the contact trip

against the worksurface.
4. Pull the trigger switch

to actuate thetool.
5. Release trigger and remove contact trip from workpiece.
6. Repeat steps 3 – 5 to fire subsequentnails.
Bump Action
DCN660 only
The bump action mode is used for rapid nailing on flat,
stationarysurfaces.

1. Insert the belt hook

into the mounting hole on the side
of thetool.
2. Pass the screw

through the belt hook and into the
mounting hole. Tighten thescrew.
Loading the Tool (Fig. D)
1. Insert fasteners into the rear of the magazine

2. Pull nail pusher

back until the nail follower falls behind
thenails.
3. Release thepusher.
Unloading the Tool
1. Holding the tool upright, squeeze the latch on pusher

and allow nails to slide down magazine past thepusher.
2. Remove the nails from the magazine

Adjusting the Driving Depth (Fig. A)
Using the depth adjustment wheel, the nail driving depth can
be adjusted to the type of fastenerused.
1. To drive the nail shallower, rotate the depth adjustment
wheel

towards the rear of the tool. Refer to gauge

to
understand where the tool is set within the availablerange.
2. To sink a nail deeper, rotate the depth adjustment wheel

towards the front of thetool.
Selecting the Mode (Fig. E)
DCN660 only
To select sequential action mode, slide the mode selector
switch

to the single nail icon(

To select bump action mode, slide the mode selector switch

to the three nail icon(
).
Trigger Lock‑off (Fig. F)
This tool is equipped with a trigger lock-off

which prevents
the tool from firing anail.
To engage the trigger lock-off, push the switchdownward.
To release the trigger lock-off

, pull the switchupward.
WARNING: Make sure the trigger lock‑off

is engaged
and the battery pack is removed before making any
adjustments or when tool is not in immediateuse.
Non‑mar Tip (Fig. A)
Place the no-mark tip

over the contact trip

when the tool
is used onwood.
Store the no-mark tip at the holder

whenever it is not to
beused.
WARNING: Make sure the trigger lock‑off

is engaged
and the battery pack is removed before installing or
removing the no‑marktip.
Worklights (Fig. H)
This tool has worklights
5
located on each side. The worklights
will light upon activating the trigger or releasing the contact
trip. The lights will automatically go off after 10 seconds of
non-operation. The worklights also function as a low battery
indicator and a jammed nail indicator. For further details, refer to
Low Battery Indicator or Clearing Stall or JammedNail.
WARNING: The worklights are intended for lighting the
immediate work surface. Do not use the worklights as the
only lightsource.
