What to do if my DeWalt Air Compressor motor will not run?
    • L
      Lisa WilliamsNov 1, 2025
If your DeWalt Air Compressor motor won't run, there are several potential reasons. The motor overload protection switch may have tripped, so check the 'Motor Overload' section. Ensure you're using the correct length and gauge of extension cord. Blown fuse, circuit breaker tripped can also cause this issue. Check the fuse box and replace fuses as needed, or reset the circuit breaker, but do not use a fuse or circuit breaker with a higher rating than specified. Check for proper fuse and use only a time delay fuse. Check for low voltage conditions and/or proper extension cord. Disconnect other electrical appliances from the circuit, or operate the compressor on its own branch circuit. Loose electrical connections, a defective motor or starting capacitor, or paint spray on internal motor part...

Why does the safety valve pop off on my DeWalt Air Compressor?
    • B
      Bethany CastilloNov 15, 2025
If the safety valve pops off due to excessive air tank pressure, several issues might be at play. The pressure switch may not be shutting off the motor when the compressor reaches the cut-out pressure; in this case, immediately set the On/Off switch to OFF. If it still does not shut off, contact a DWALT factory service center or a DWALT authorized service center. Alternatively, the pressure switch cut-out might be too high, which also requires contacting a service center. A defective safety valve can also cause this issue; try manually operating the safety valve by pulling on the ring. If it continues to leak, the valve needs replacement. Also, the tank pressure may exceed the pressure switch cut-in pressure, in which case the motor will start automatically when the tank pressure drops bel...
