Function Description:

The DDAD30KC Series Dryers are commercial laundry appliances designed for drying clothes. They are available in stacked configurations, with two drums controlled by a single central controller. The dryers operate using gas for heating and electrical power for other functions. They are equipped with an electronic coin acceptor system for commercial use, and also support Dexter's Easy Card debit card system for payment.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Gas Inlet: 1/2" NPT
  • Electrical Requirements:
    • 120V: #10 AWG wire, 30A circuit breaker
    • 208-240V (neutral required): #12 AWG wire, 15A or 20A circuit breaker
    • The dryer is shipped configured for 120V and includes instructions for conversion to 208-240V.
  • Make-up Air: Adequate make-up air is crucial for proper operation, with a recommended supply of 600 CFM/drum (1200 CFM/dryer). A minimum of 1 1/2 square feet make-up air opening to the outside is required per dryer.
  • Exhaust Ducting:
    • Individual exhaust ducts should be 8" round.
    • Maximum recommended straight 8" diameter pipe length with two right-angle elbows is 14 ft (4.25 m) for each cylinder.
    • Main discharge ducts (for multiple dryers) should be sized according to provided tables (e.g., 12 3/4" for two dryers, up to 28 1/2" for six dryers).
    • Individual ducts must enter the main discharge duct at a 45-degree angle in the direction of airflow.
    • Maintain a minimum of 1" (25mm) clearance between duct and combustible material.
  • Clearances (Alcove Installation):
    • Left Side: 0"
    • Right Side: 0"
    • Back: 18" (457mm) (certified for 6" (152mm), but 18" is needed for servicing/maintenance)
    • Front: 48" (1220mm) (to allow use of dryer)

Usage Features:

  • Stacked Design: The dryers feature two drums, an upper and a lower, controlled by a single central unit.
  • Electronic Coin Acceptor: Supports various coin denominations and tokens depending on the country, with configurable switch settings.
  • Easy Card System: Factory-equipped models can integrate with Dexter's Easy Card debit card system.
  • Programmable Controls: Users can select drying temperature (Hot, Medium, Warm). Operators can adjust vend price, temperature settings, cool-down times, coin values, and free vend time.
  • Hour Meters and Coin Audits: The controller tracks hours run for each drum and coin counts for left and right coin inputs, which are resettable.
  • Power Interruption Protection: All programmed data and cycle time remaining are protected from power interruptions.
  • Anti-Wrinkle Option: This feature, defeated by default, can be activated to periodically tumble the load after the cycle finishes if the door is not opened, preventing wrinkles.
  • Last Temperature Used Option: This feature, defeated by default, allows the dryer to default to the last temperature selection used in the previous cycle instead of 'warm' for a new cycle.
  • Gas Ignition: Solid-state ignition system automatically lights the main burner. If ignition fails after three attempts, the system "locks out" and requires a reset (opening the door for 15 seconds).
  • Temperature Display: During operation, the drying temperature can be displayed by simultaneously pressing the start switch and the selected temperature switch.

Maintenance Features:

  • Daily Maintenance: Clean lint screen; check for rips/tears.
  • Monthly Maintenance: Clean lint from motor end bells, dryer controls area, lint screen compartment, and all areas around and below burners and burner housing (crucial to prevent fire hazard).
  • Semi-Annual Maintenance: Check V-belts for cracks/wear/looseness; inspect and tighten fasteners; clean lint from inside front panel; lubricate door hinge pivots; inspect door glass gasket; clean burner primary air ports; check intermediate drive pulley bushings.
  • Annual Maintenance: Remove, inspect, and clean main burner orifices; grease intermediate drive pulley bearing; inspect and remove lint accumulation in exhaust ducts (from dryer connection to exit wall/roof); check tumbler shaft retaining nut torque (125 Ft. pound).
  • Over-Temperature Thermostat: Equipped with a thermostat located on the burner housing; if tripped, it can be reset by inserting a wooden pencil or dowel through the bushing in the cover.
  • Main Burner Adjustment: Primary air shutter can be adjusted to achieve a blue flame with minimal yellow tips.
  • Exhaust Duct Inspection Door: Recommended for periodic clean-out of the main duct.
