WhentheFitTestprogramlaunches:
Theconsolemustdetectaheartratetooperate.
Theconsolemustdetecttheuser’sRPM.Ifnomovementisdetected,theunitwillenterPausemodeafterfive(5)secondsof
inactivity.Toresumetheprogram,beginrotatingthepedalsandpresstheGOkey.
TheLowerDisplaywillpost“Pedalat50RPM.”
TheMatrixDisplaywillpostahorizontallineofsegmentswhichshowtheprojectedresistanceprofileandactualresistanceprofile
history.Thisprofilemaychangeastheuser’sheartratedataisreceivedandtheprogramadjusts.
Iftheuser’sheartratesignalisdetected,theheartratebargraphandDB/hearticonwilllight
Allotherdisplayswillfunctionnormally.
StageOne TheprogramwillbeginwithStageOne,athree(3)minutewarmupsession.
StageTwo,Three Programmingwillcontinue,promptingtheus
ertomaintain50RPM.Aftereachthree(3)minutestage,thenextstage
andBeyond willbeginwithanincreasedlevelofresistance.Theprogramwillcontinueuntiltheusersuccessfullycompletesthetest,
ortheprogramendsduetolackofinputorimproper/unsafeheartrates.
EndingtheFi tTestProgram
SuccessfulTestResults
Ifsuccessful,theFitTestprogramwillendaftertheuser’sheartrateexceeds110BPMfortwostages.
TheconsolewillbeeptosignifytheendingoftheprogramandtheLowerDisplaywillpost“MAXMETS=”
followedbythefitnessrating.“MAXMETS”representsyourfunctionalcapacityforaerobicexercise.Itis
expressedinMETS,ormetabolicunits.Thisvaluefactorstheuser’sbodyweight,butnotageorgender(see
thecharttotheright).
Knowingone’sfunctionalcapacitycanalsotellyouhowdifficultitmaybetoperformcertainactivities.To
illustrate,cyclingat3mphgenerallyrequiresabout3to8METSwhereasfastcyclingat10mphrequires
roughly7METS.ArmedwithapersonalMAXMETSscore,theusercanmakejudgmentsregardingtheir
exerciseregime.Forexample,ifaperson’sfunctionalcapacityis6METS,onewouldbeabletodeterminethat
ridingabicycleat10mphforanextendedperiodoftimewouldbequitedifficult(withoutactuallyridingthe
bicycle).
