Operation

1. Fasten and adjust seat belt.
2. Put the attachment speed switch in the LOW position.
3. Ensure that trencher/Roto Witch switch is in the OFF position.
4. Start tractor.
5. Adjust throttle to low idle.
6. Disengage parking brake.
7. Move ground drive control forward to a slow speed and lower plow blade until it begins to break the
soil.
8. Move the plow vibrator switch to the ON position. PLOW WILL VIBRATE.
9. Lower the plow blade into the ground until the
lift trolley alignment marks (see page 28) are in
line, indicating that the lift trolley is centered in
the tractor frame as shown. Skid shoes should
be in full contact with the ground.
10. Increase engine speed to a point with the least
tractor vibration and the highest ground drive
speed possible without tire slippage.
NOTICE:
• Move slowly while lowering the plow blade into the ground.
• Do NOT move ground drive control to reverse with the blade in the ground.
• Ensure that the skid shoes contact the ground during operation.
• Do NOT plow with the blade partially raised.
IMPORTANT:
• To take full advantage of the 420sx
ground following capability, use the
plow lift control to keep the plow
position indicator in operating range.
(See “Plow position indicator” on
page 29.)
• For more power to the ground,
operate plow with the attachment
speed switch in the LOW position.
For sticky or wet soil conditions,
operate plow with the attachment
speed switch in the HIGH position.
