Overview

The Dometic B3000 PLUS is an air conditioner designed for installation in vehicles such as camping-cars, caravans, and motorhomes, aiming to improve temperature conditions within the vehicle. It provides both fresh and dehumidified air in summer and warm air in winter, though it is not intended to replace the vehicle's primary heating system. The user can set the desired temperature.

Function Description:

The system operates using a refrigerant gas cycle, which can be inverted by a solenoid valve (f) to switch between cooling and heating modes.

  • Fresh Air - Running (Cooling Mode): The system comprises a compressor (a), condenser (b), evaporator (d), and refrigerant gas under pressure. In cooling mode, the fan (c) forces internal air through the cooled evaporator, which then exits as cooled and dehumidified air. This process gradually reduces the vehicle's internal temperature.
  • Hot Air - Description of Operation (Heating Mode): In heating mode, the refrigerant gas cycle is inverted. Heat accumulated by the refrigerant gas is dispersed by the internal heat exchanger, with the fan (c) delivering this heat into the passenger compartment, thereby increasing the vehicle's temperature over time.

Important Technical Specifications:

The B3000 PLUS has the following key technical data:

  • Nominal Capacity: 3.2 KW
  • Cooling-Heating Consumption: 1200-1350 W
  • Heating Capacity: 3.3 KW
  • Electrical Rating: 230V-50Hz
  • Protection Degree: IP X4
  • Conditioned Air Volume: 380 m³/h
  • Max Internal Volume of the Vehicle (insulated walls): 30 m³
  • Weight: 40.5 Kg
  • Refrigerant Gas (type/quantity): See date template (specific type and quantity not detailed in the provided excerpt).
  • Dimensions (External Unit): Length 980 mm, Width 650 mm, Height 235 mm.
  • Dimensions (Internal Diffuser): Length 560 mm, Width 550 mm.
  • Roof Opening Requirements: 400x400 mm, with a roof thickness range of min 30 mm to max 80 mm. The gasket thickness varies from 10 mm (for 30 mm roof) to 60 mm (for 80 mm roof).

Usage Features:

The air conditioner is controlled via a remote control, offering various modes and settings:

  • ON/OFF Button: Starts and stops the air conditioner.
  • F°/C° Button: Toggles the temperature display between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
  • LIGHT Button: Switches on the light on the air conditioner diffuser (if equipped). This button works even when the remote control is off.
  • ROOM Button: Displays the local room temperature instead of the set point. Pressing it again reverts to the set point display. This button also works when the remote control is off.
  • CLOCK Button: Allows modification of the time setting when pressed for more than 2 seconds, using the UP (+) and DOWN (-) buttons. The SET button confirms changes, or they are confirmed automatically after 15 seconds.
  • SET Button: Confirms time settings and resends the actual operating setting.
  • TIMER Button: Sets automatic startup and/or shutdown times. The display flashes for 15 seconds while waiting for settings.
    • "ON" Timer (Automatic Startup): Press TIMER once, set time with +/-, and confirm with SET.
    • "OFF" Timer (Automatic Shutdown): Press TIMER twice, set time with +/-, and confirm with SET.
    • "ON" & "OFF" Timer (Automatic On/Off): Press TIMER three times, set ON time with +/-, then set OFF time with +/-, and confirm with SET.
  • SLEEP Function: Activates a sleep mode that automatically adjusts the set point to increase comfort. The set temperature is lowered by 1° after one hour and by 2° after two hours.
  • I FEEL Function: Enables the remote control to detect the operating temperature. The remote control should be positioned to send signals to the receiver and not be in an area significantly warmer or cooler than the normal room temperature (e.g., direct sunlight or cold air from the diffuser).
  • RESET Button: Erases all configuration parameters, restoring default settings.
  • Operation Modes:
    • AUTOMATIC MODE: The system automatically adjusts fan speed and operation based on the set point (16°C - 31°C). The fan button is disabled in this mode.
    • FAN MODE: Allows manual selection of fan speed (SPEED1, SPEED2, SPEED3, SPEED4).
    • COOL / HEAT MODE: Allows manual selection of cooling or heating mode and setting the desired temperature (16°C - 31°C) and fan speed.
  • Adjusting Air Direction: Air diffusing flaps can be positioned to direct airflow. Rotating the center knob anticlockwise allows adjustment, then rotating clockwise locks the desired position.
  • LED State on Air Diffuser: Provides visual feedback on the unit's status:
    • Off: Air conditioner off.
    • Orange: Air conditioner on StandBy (waiting for a command).
    • Green: Air conditioner running.
    • Red (fixed): Anomaly - 230V power supply missing (12V is present).
    • Red (1 flick): Anomaly - Malfunctioning of E1 temperature probe (internal).
    • Red (2 flicks): Anomaly - Malfunctioning of E2 temperature probe (external).
    • Red (3 flicks): Anomaly - Malfunctioning of E3 temperature probe (external).
    • Flashing green: Defrost / Start heat pump.

Maintenance Features:

  • Ordinary Maintenance:
    • Cleaning: Periodically clean the air conditioner and remove dust with a damp cloth. Use a mild detergent if necessary; avoid petrol or solvents.
    • Checks: Regularly inspect the air conditioner and ensure water outlet holes are not clogged.
    • Filters Cleaning (1): Periodically wash the filters with a detergent solution and allow them to dry before refitting.
    • Active Carbon Filter (2): Recommended to change active carbon filters annually.
  • Extraordinary Maintenance: For optimal performance, the manufacturer recommends having a dealer/workshop thoroughly clean the thermal exchange batteries and ensure water outlet holes are properly cleaned.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a troubleshooting table linking common problems to potential causes and solutions, categorized by operations to be carried out by the user or by authorized personnel. Examples of issues include:

  • Air conditioner not cooling/heating sufficiently.
  • No air circulation.
  • Water leaks.
  • Unit not starting or stopping unexpectedly. Causes range from incorrect temperature settings, defective components (thermal protection, heating resistance, compressor, fans, capacitor), insufficient refrigerant gas, clogged filters or water outlets, dirty thermal exchange batteries, to power supply issues.
