Precautions
READ CAREFULLY BEFORE
PROCEEDING
Please keep this manual in a convenient
place for future reference.
Power Supply
Always use a DC 9V center negative AC
adapter. Use of an adapter other than
that specified could damage the unit or
cause malfunction and pose a safety
hazard.
Always connect the AC adapter to an
AC outlet that supplies the rated voltage
required by the adapter.
Disconnect the AC adapter from the AC
outlet when during lightning storms or
not using the unit for an extended
period.
Connections
Always turn off the power before
connecting or disconnecting. Make sure
to disconnect all cables and AC adapter
before moving the unit. This will help
prevent malfunction and damages.
Environment Considerations
Avoid using the unit in any of the
following conditions that could cause
malfunction:
Extremely hot or cold places
Under direct sunlight
Magnetic fields
Near heaters and other heat sources
Sandy or dusty places
Places that are extremely humid or
exposed to splashing water
Places with lots of vibrations
Electrical Interference
Devices that are very susceptible to
interference or that emits powerful
electromagnetic waves (e.g. radios and
TVs) should not be placed near this unit,
as interference could occur.
Electromagnetic interference could
cause malfunction and could corrupt or
destroy data.
Always operate this unit at a suitable
distance from these devices.
Handling
Do not apply excessive force to the
switches and other controls, exposing
the unit to strong impacts, which could
cause it to break.
Do not put foreign objects or liquids into
the unit.
Never open the case or attempt to
modify the product in any way since this
can result in damage to the unit.
Clean only with a soft, dry cloth.
Rock Out At Low Volume
The EMO-AMP Controller is a passive
attenuator designed for using with your
amp’s FX Loop jacks (better settle it in a
serial FX loop). When you need to rock
out at low volume, this will be a great
help. But remember: do not set it
between your amp and cabinet.

Overview

The Donner EMO-AMP Controller is a compact, passive attenuator designed to help guitarists achieve low-volume rock sounds without disturbing others. It connects to an amplifier's FX Loop jacks, ideally a serial FX loop, to control the output level.

Function Description:

The primary function of the EMO-AMP Controller is to attenuate the signal in an amplifier's FX loop, allowing the user to "rock out at low volume." It acts as a passive attenuator, meaning it does not require an external power supply for its core function of signal attenuation. The device features true bypass design, which ensures that the original sound quality remains pristine when the attenuator is not actively engaged or when bypassed. A key feature is the "MINIMUM" footswitch, which, when tapped, immediately sets the amplifier's output to its minimum level. An LED indicator illuminates when this minimum level is active, providing visual feedback to the user. The unit is explicitly designed for use within an amp's FX loop and should not be placed between an amp and its cabinet.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Requirement: 9V DC center negative (for LED only)
  • Current Consumption: 10mA (for LED only)
  • Dimensions: 42x93.5x52mm
  • Weight: 220g
  • Input/Output Jacks: 1/4" mono audio jacks for "Send" and "Return" connections.
  • Power Jack: DC 9V center negative (for LED only, 500mA recommended for AC adapter).

Usage Features:

  • Easy-to-Use: The device is designed for straightforward operation. Users connect it to their amp's FX Loop jacks, set the desired level using the "LEVEL" knob, or tap the "MINIMUM" footswitch for immediate minimum output.
  • Passive Attenuation: The core attenuation function does not require an external power supply, making it convenient and reducing cable clutter.
  • True Bypass: Ensures that the signal path remains unaltered when the attenuator is bypassed, preserving the amplifier's original tone.
  • MINIMUM Footswitch with LED: Provides a quick and easy way to drop the volume to its lowest setting, with a visual LED indicator for confirmation.
  • Compact Size: Its small dimensions make it easy to integrate into any pedalboard or setup.
  • Durable Construction: Built with a solid Aluminum-alloy chassis and carefully selected components to ensure reliability and sound quality.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The unit should only be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth.
  • No User Serviceable Parts: Users are explicitly warned not to open the case or attempt to modify the product, as this can lead to damage and void any potential warranty.
  • Environmental Considerations: To prevent malfunction, the device should be kept away from extreme temperatures (hot or cold), direct sunlight, magnetic fields, heaters, sandy or dusty places, areas with high humidity or splashing water, and places with excessive vibrations.
  • Power Supply Handling: If using the optional DC 9V adapter for the LED, always use the specified center negative type. Disconnect the adapter during lightning storms or when the unit is not in use for extended periods.
  • Connection Protocol: Always turn off the power of connected equipment before making or breaking connections. Disconnect all cables and the AC adapter before moving the unit to prevent malfunction and damage.
  • Handling Precautions: Avoid applying excessive force to switches and controls, exposing the unit to strong impacts, or introducing foreign objects or liquids into the unit.

The Donner EMO-AMP Controller is a practical solution for guitarists who want to enjoy their amplifier's tone at lower volumes without compromising sound quality, offering a simple yet effective way to manage output levels in home or studio environments.
