3.2 Functional description
The test unit is supplied with compressed air from the medium-
pressure connector of a SCBA or a fixed compressed air system.
The lung demand valve or the chemical protection suit is
supplied with compressed air from the medium pressure outlet.
The test unit is controlled with the control levers. Medium-
pressure and low pressure gauges and a timer are used to
determine the measured values.
The Dräger Testor 3500 test unit can be operated with a PC.
This requires the "Dräger Protector Software" test system and
the USB cable. The software can also be downloaded from the
Dräger website (www.draeger.com/software). This software
indicates all test steps and logs the test results. The test results
are saved and can be printed. Test date monitoring ensures
that the inspection intervals are observed.
3.3 Intended use
The leak-tightness and functions of the following products can
be tested with the test unit:
Full face masks
Lung demand valves
Compressed air breathing apparatus
Chemical protective suits
The following tests can be performed with the test unit:
on the full face mask
leak test
opening pressure of the exhalation valve
on the lung demand valve:
leak test
low-pressure rise
Opening pressure
Switching pressure
Static positive pressure
on the compressed air breathing apparatus
Static medium pressure
medium-pressure rise
high pressure leak test
on the chemical protective suit
seal of the chemical protective suit
leak tightness of suit valves
The tests are conducted in accordance with the VFDB
Directive 0804 and for the SCBA also in accordance with
EN 137.

4.1 Instructions on using the test unit
4.1.1 General
To ensure safe and accident-free work with the test unit,
observe the following points when working with the test unit:
Before commissioning, the test unit must be attached to the
workstation using the table mount.
The test unit must be protected against ingress of water
and moisture. Ensure that no moisture from splash water or
leaking water can ingress into the test unit.
The housing may only be opened by trained Dräger
personnel.
4.1.2 Operating the test unit
To generate negative pressure, hold the left control lever in
the "–" position.
To vent the system slowly, hold the left control lever in
the " " position.
To generate positive pressure, hold the right control lever
in the "+" position.
To vent the system quickly, hold the right control lever in
the " " position.
