TIMER CONNECTOR INTERFACE
Astandard 5 pin DIN connector located onthe rear panel
provides the connections for unattended, programmed
Timer control of cassette recorders, RITY or FAX demodu-
lators, etc, Please refer to Figure 15 for a pin by pin
description of this connector.

DO NOT USE TIMER CONNECTIONS TO SWITCH STANDARD
120 VAC LINE OPERATED EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY. MAXIMUM
RATINGS OF TIMER CONNECTIONS ARE 30 VDC AT 1 AM-
PERE. IF IT IS NECESSARY TO SWITCH THE 120 VAC LINE
UNDER TIMER CONTROL, IT WILL REQUIRE THE ADDITION OF
AN EXTERNAL RELAY WITH THE PROPER CONTACT RATING
THAT IS DRIVEN FROM THE RECEIVER's TIMER CONNECTOR.

Pin 1: No Connection.
Pin 2: Timer Relay Common Connection.
This connection switches between Pins 3 and 5
depending on the state of Timer 1 or 2.
Pin 3: Timer Relay Normally Closed Connection.
Connected to relay Common when Timer lor
2 is OFF.
Pin 4: Chassis Ground Connection.
Pin 5: Timer Relay Normally Open Connection,
Connected to relay Common when Timer 1 or
2is ON.
Asmentioned above, a common usage of the
internal timer relay is to control a tape recorder
to provide automatic, unattended recordings
of received programs. By programmingTimer 1
a 2 On/Off times into the receiver, the re-
corder will be turned On at the Timer ON time,
record the program, and then turn off at the
Timer OFF time.
A typical connection diagram is shown in
FIGURE 16.
