Overview

This document provides information regarding an economy I.V. pole with a removable top, featuring 4 hooks and 4 legs, identified by item number 13029. The product is manufactured by Drive Medical Design & Manufacturing.

Function Description:

The economy I.V. pole is designed to provide a stable and portable support for intravenous bags, allowing for the administration of fluids or medication to patients. Its primary function is to hold I.V. bags at an appropriate height, facilitating gravity-fed delivery. The removable top and 4-hook design offer flexibility in managing multiple I.V. bags simultaneously, making it suitable for various clinical settings. The 4-leg base with casters ensures mobility and stability, allowing the pole to be easily moved to different locations while maintaining a secure stance.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Product Type: Economy I.V. pole
  • Top Design: Removable top
  • Hook Configuration: 4 hooks
  • Leg Configuration: 4 legs
  • Item Number: 13029
  • Manufacturer: Drive Medical Design & Manufacturing

  • Manufacturing Location: Port Washington N.Y. 11050 USA, Made in China

Usage Features:

The assembly instructions detail a straightforward process for setting up the I.V. pole, emphasizing ease of use and secure construction.

  1. Top Leg Assembly: The top leg (A) with a pre-assembled pin (F) is aligned over corresponding holes in the middle of the bottom leg (B). The pin (F) is then hammered into the bottom leg, ensuring it is flush with the top leg. This step establishes the foundational structure of the pole's base.
  2. Post Installation: A lock washer (D) is placed onto a bolt (E), and this assembly is installed from the bottom side of the base into the bottom of the post (C). This secures the main vertical support (post) to the base.
  3. Hook Attachment: The hook (G) is snapped over the top end of the post (C) until the snap pins pop through the two holes in the tube portion of the hook. This final step attaches the functional component for holding I.V. bags.

The design with a removable top suggests potential for compact storage or easier transport, though specific details on this are not provided. The 4-hook configuration allows for the simultaneous hanging of multiple I.V. bags, which is beneficial in situations requiring the administration of different solutions or for extended treatment periods. The 4-leg base, typically equipped with casters (as implied by the visual representation), ensures mobility, allowing healthcare professionals to easily reposition the pole as needed within a patient's room or clinical area.

Maintenance Features:

The product comes with a lifetime limited warranty, indicating a commitment to quality and durability.

  • Warranty Coverage: The Drive brand product is warranted to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original consumer purchaser. This warranty reflects the manufacturer's confidence in the product's construction and its expectation of dependable service.
  • Warranty Service: In the event of a covered defect, Drive Medical will, at its option, repair or replace the device.
  • Exclusions: The warranty does not cover device failure due to owner misuse or negligence, or normal wear and tear.
  • Non-Durable Components: The warranty specifically excludes non-durable components such as rubber accessories, casters, and grips. These parts are subject to normal wear and tear and require periodic replacement, implying that users should anticipate and manage the replacement of these items over time. This highlights the importance of routine inspection of these components to ensure the continued safe and effective operation of the I.V. pole.
  • Customer Support: For questions regarding the Drive device or its warranty, users are directed to contact an authorized Drive dealer. This provides a clear channel for support and troubleshooting.

The emphasis on "exacting standards" and careful inspection prior to shipment suggests a focus on initial product quality, aiming to minimize defects from the outset. While specific cleaning or routine maintenance instructions are not detailed in the provided excerpts, the exclusion of "normal wear and tear" and "non-durable components" from the warranty implies that users are responsible for the upkeep and replacement of certain parts to maintain the device's functionality and safety. Regular checks of the casters, grips, and any rubber accessories would be prudent to ensure smooth operation and prevent potential hazards.
