Setting
the
stylus
pressure
Each
cartridge
has
an
optimum
stylus
pressure.
See
instructions
supplied
with
your
cartridge.
Once
the
tonearm
is
balanced
exactly,
the
stylus
pressure
is
set
to
the
recommended
value
for
the
cartridge
by
turning
the
sty-
lus

scale
(3).
The
stylus
pressure
Can
be
set
to
any
value
from

whereby
the
figures
on
the

are
to

The
setting

anti-skating

corresponds
to
the
setting
of
stylus
pressure:
Turn
the
anti-skating
knob
to
the
number
on
the
appropriate
scale
which
corresponds
to
the
stylus
pressure
you
have
set.
That
is,
for
a
stylus
pressure
of
25
mN
(2.5
grams),
set
the
anti-skating
knob
also
at
20%
When
playing
records
moistened
with
a
cleaning
agent,
the
skating
force
is
reduced
by
approximately
30
%.
In
such
cases
we
recommend
a
corresponding
30
%
decrease
in
anti-skating
compensation.

In
normal
use,
every
stylus
is
subject
to
wear
and
tear.
We
re-
commend
that
it
be
inspected
occasionally,
but
certainly
after
aproximately
300
playing
hours
in
case
of
diamond
styli.
Your

wil!
do
this
without
charge.
Worn

ped)

grind
the
modulation

and
damage
the
records.
In
case
of
replacement,
obtain
only
the
stylus
type
recommended
in
the
Technical
Data

the
cart-
ridge.
Imitations
cause
noticeable
loss
in
sound
quality
and
rapid
record
wear.
|
Piease
keep
in
mind
that
the
stylus
holder
with
the
diamond
tip
is
necessarily
quite
delicate
in
order
to
provide
quality
per-
formance.
It
is,
therefore,
extremely
sensitive
to
harsh
handling,
accidental
touch,
blows,
etc.
Take
the
cartridge
in
the
holder
to
your
Dual
dealer
for
inspection
of
the

Pitch
control
Each
of
the
two
standard
speeds
(33
1/3
and
45
rpm)
can
be
varied
with
the
pitch
control
(14)
(Fig.
4).
The
pitch
control
maintains
the
nominal
speed
and
provides
for
individual
control
of
tempi
and
pitch
of
reproduction,
for
example,
when
the
pitch
of
recorded
music
is
to
match
a
live
musical
instrument,
or
when
a
record
passage
is
to
match
the
length
of
a
motion
picture
scene.
|
The
illuminated
strobe
mechanism
can
be
used
to
adjust
the
exact
speeds
while
a
record
is
playing.
When
the
turntable
ro-
tates
at
exact
speed
no
movement
of
the
bars
is
observed.
If
the
bars
appear
to
advance
in
the
same
direction
as
the
turntable
the
speed
is
too
high.
If
the
bars
appear
to
retreat,
the
speed
is
too
low.
:
Removing
platter
The
platter
is
secured
to
the
chassis
by
a
rail
which
engages
the
platter
shaft.
To
remove
the
platter
lift
the
mat
over
one
of
the
openings
and
turn
it
to
the
opening
is
just
in
front
of
you.
Then
press
the
rail
which
becomes
visible,
outwards
and
remove
the
olatter.
When
putting
the
platter
on
the
turntable
the
rail
catches
in
the
platter
bearing
and
secures
the
platter
automati-
cally.
Replacing
the
drive
belt
Lift
the
rubber
disk
from
the
turntable
and
turn
the
turntable
so
that
the
aperture
is
located
above
the
motor
(drive
roller).
Lift
the
flat
drive
belt
from
the
drive
roller
and
lay
it
on
the
running
surface
of
the
turntable.
|
Now
release
the
platter
locking
device
(refer
to
Section
““Remo-
ving
Platter’’)
and
lift
the
platter
off
upwards.
|
Remove
the
old
belt
and
put
the
new
precision
flat
belt
on
the
inner
rim
of
the
platter.
Attention!
Be
sure
the
ground
side
of
the
belt
is
on
the
inside.
Put
the
platter
on
the
bearing
axle
carefully.
The
platter
safety
mechanism
catches
automatically.
Lift
the
platter
mat
on
a
recess
of
a
platter
and
rotate
this
sec-
tion
to
the
range
of
the
drive
pulley
of
motor.
Remove
the
flat-
belt
with
a
cardboard
strip,
if
necessary,
and
put
it
on
the
motor
drive
pulley.
Make
sure
that
the
flat
belt
runs
freely
within
the
guide
fork.
Adjustment
of
tonearm
indexing
If
playing
of
arecord
is
started
automatically,
the
pickup
needle
is
lowered
automatically
into
the
starter
groove
of
the
record.
If
the
stylus
of
another
cartridge,
installed
later,
sets
down
too
far
inside
or
outside
the
lead-in
groove,
adjustment
can
be
made
as
follow:
Move
the
speed
selector
to
33’.
Removing
the
decorating
strip
(first
lift
it
on
the
rear
edge)
will
expose
the
control
(9)
for
tonearm
indexing
(Fig.
4).
:
Place
a
12”
record
on
the
platter
and
start
the
unit.
If
the
stylus
sets
down
too
far
inside
or
outside
the
center
of
the
record,
turn
adjusting
screw
clockwise
or
counterclockwise,
respecti-
vely.
|
Turn
the
adjusting
screw
clockwise
or
anticlockwise
until
the
pickup

is
lowered
accurately
into
the
