Lubrication points and maintenance
VM420 has many bearing points, of which many are only subjected to easy loads and are
therefore equipped with pre-lubricated ball-bearings.
The other bearings are mainly flange bearings that require moderate lubrication. The
main rule here is to avoid excessive lubrication and forcing of the oil seals in the
bearings.
Mechanism –lubrication, cleaning
It is an advantage to clean and coat the mechanism with a thin film of oil on the gliding surfaces
annually.
This is to reduce the mechanical wear and the risk of malfunctions during operation.
Access to the mechanism is gained by removing pos. 9 pump cover pp.42-43.
The easiest access to the mechanism is straight forward – in case you work with the machine
elevated, it must always be equipped with anti-falling equipment.
NB! There are movable parts in the mechanism which involve great power and risk of
crushing.
The machine should never be operated when the covers are removed.
Hydraulic oil – measures maintenance
Check of condensation in accordance with the measures described on p.17.
Replace the Filter cartridge (2251065) in the oil filter (1) after the first 50 operating hours and
afterwards once a year of after 500 operating hours (depending on whatever occurs first) to
ensure max filtration of the oil at all times. Pos. 6 pp.38-39.
Change hydraulic oil after the first 50 operating hours and later every year or after 500 operating
hours (whatever occurs first); this is also to secure max oil quality.
Bearing points for the splitter cylinder and the gliding surfaces in the grooved for the
splitter piston + gliding surfaces
Interval: Once every day during operation as these are points that are subjected to great
strain.
The lubrication point for this is nipple B
The lubrication nipple is directly accessible.
The gliding surfaces are marked C.
