Overview

The DZS 1664WC is a WiFi-6 Wireless Router designed for both single router and mesh network configurations, offering robust connectivity and easy management.

Function Description:

The 1664WC operates as a standalone Access Point (AP) without mesh functionality by default. For users with the 1664WC-DUO model, it functions as a mesh router set, comprising a Main AP and a Satellite AP. The Main AP connects directly to the internet gateway, while the Satellite AP extends the wireless coverage. The device supports both wired and wireless connections for internet access.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Wireless Standard: WiFi-6
  • LED Indicators:
    • Dark: No Power
    • Steady Red: Powering up
    • Blinking Red: No network cable connected (for WAN port) or Satellite AP issues
    • Blinking Green: Network connection in progress
    • Steady Green: Functioning normally, internet access available, or successful mesh networking
    • Blinking Blue: WPS or Mesh pairing in progress
    • Steady Blue: Pairing successful

Usage Features:

  • Single Router Setup:
    • Connect the DSL/PON/Cable Gateway to the WAN port of the DZS Router.
    • Ensure the LED light is steady green for internet connection.
    • Place the router in an open area for optimal signal.
    • Wired devices can connect to LAN ports.
    • Wireless devices connect using the SSID and password provided on the device sticker.
  • Mesh Setup (1664WC-DUO):
    • Option 1: Wireless Networking:
      • Complete the Main AP connection using the single router setup steps.
      • Place the Satellite AP in a suitable location within the home layout.
      • Power on the Satellite AP and wait approximately 5 minutes for the LED to turn steady green, indicating successful mesh networking.
      • Placement Tip: Minimize barriers (walls, doors, floors) between Main AP and Satellite AP for optimal performance. One wall/door/floor separation is recommended.
    • Option 2: Wired Networking:
      • Complete the Main AP connection using the single router setup steps.
      • Place the Satellite AP based on cable deployment in the home.
      • Connect the Satellite AP to a LAN port of the Main AP via a network cable.
      • Power on the Satellite AP. A steady green LED indicates successful mesh networking.
  • WPS Functionality: Short press the WPS button to initiate the WPS process for easy device connection.
  • Management Methods:
    • HTTP Web Interface: Access through a web browser by entering http://192.168.0.1 or http://azoresrouter.com. Allows modification of WAN configuration, router settings, single SSID for 2.4G/5G, guest Wi-Fi, and wireless network status.
    • DZS Router APP: Download the "Azores Router" mobile application for management. A QR code is provided in the manual for downloading the electronic user manual with more instructions.
  • Expanding Mesh Network: Additional Azores routers can be purchased to expand the existing mesh network. Refer to the electronic user manual for customized mesh network operation methods.

Maintenance Features:

  • Reset Functionality:
    • Short Press (1 second): Resets the router.
    • Long Press (5 seconds or longer): Resets to factory default settings. This operation should be performed when the LED is blinking green or steady green.
  • Troubleshooting Internet Access:
    • Check WAN port connection if LED is blinking red.
    • Verify WAN settings and Broadband Gateway service if LED is blinking green but no internet.
    • Reboot Satellite AP or restore to default settings if its LED is blinking red.
    • Adjust distance between Main AP and Satellite AP and re-operate mesh setup if Satellite AP LED is blinking green but performance is poor.
    • Reboot computer/smartphone and check IP address if LED is steady green but still no internet.
  • Restoring to Default Settings: Push the "Reset" hole on the backside of the device with a needle. The LED will flash green and hold for 5 seconds, then turn off. Release the needle and wait approximately 2 minutes for the device to restart.
  • FCC Compliance: The device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules, ensuring it does not cause harmful interference and accepts any interference received. Users are advised against unauthorized modifications. If interference occurs, measures like reorienting antennas, increasing separation, or connecting to different circuits are recommended. The equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator and the user's body.
