TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION
1. GENERAL
This section contains instructions for minimum performance testing of the UXF-35 life
preserver assembly, and a procedure for periodic maintenance inspection. The
performance test provides a functional equipment check to establish the ability of
systems and components to perform required design function or before the
reinstallation of life preservers removed from service.
2. TEST EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS
Refer to Figure 901 of the Special Tools, Fixtures, and Equipment section of this
manual for information on the test equipment and materials necessary to perform the
procedures described in this section.
3. GENERAL SETUP AND PRECAUTIONS
A Refer to the Disassembly section of this manual for information regarding any
disassembly that may be necessary to perform procedures to test the UXF-35
assembly. Disassemble only to the extent necessary to gain access to the test
components.
B. Procedures performed in this section are intended to establish ability of
systems/assemblies to perform required design function. In case of inadequate
performance, fault search is narrowed down to the sub-assembly/component
level.
CAUTION: ENSURE THAT TEST AREA IS CLEAN, SMOOTH AND FREE
FROM SHARP OBJECTS, SPLINTERS, ABRASIVE AND
CORROSIVE MATERIALS. COVER ROUGH WOOD OR
CONCRETE SURFACES WITH TARPAULIN OR CLEAN, HEAVY
PAPER.
4. FREQUENCY OF MAINTENANCE INSPECTION
A. General
The frequency of the maintenance inspection for the UXF-35 life preserver shall
occur at regularly scheduled intervals or as necessary depending on prevailing
conditions.
B. Scheduled Maintenance Inspections
A maintenance inspection of the UXF-35 life preserver is required at regular
intervals in accordance with one of the following:
(1) In the USA, the aircraft operator's FAA approved maintenance program.
