(2) Measure cell pressure using pressure gage (or manometer) coupled to an
oral tube adapter. Adjust cell pressure to 2.0 psig (0.138 Bar).
(3) Place life preserver on rack.
(4) Record time and ambient temperature T1 in
o
F units (or
o
C).
(5) Record barometric pressure P1
amb
in in.Hg units (or cm.Hg).
(6) Let life preserver stand on test for at least 4 hours but no more than 24
hours.
(7) Record time and ambient temperature T2 in
o
F units (or
o
C).
(8) Record barometric pressure P2
amb
in in.Hg units (or cm.Hg).
(9) Obtain and record cell pressure readings P
tube
in psig units (or Bar).
(10) Calculate and record "adjusted" pressure values P
adjusted
for cell to
compensate for variations in ambient conditions (temperature and
pressure) as follows:
NOTE: The formula directly below yields an adjusted pressure value in
psig units only for temperatures T1 and T2 recorded in
o
F, and
barometric pressure readings P1
amb
and P2
amb
recorded in in.Hg
units.
P
adjusted
= P
tube
+ {0.031 x (T1-T2)} + {0.49 x (P2
amb
- P1
amb
)}
NOTE: The formula directly below yields an adjusted pressure value in Bar
units only for temperatures T1 and T2 recorded in
o
C, and
barometric pressure readings P1
amb
and P2
amb
recorded in cm. Hg
units.
P
adjusted
= P
tube
+ {0.00378 x (T1-T2)} + {0.0131 x (P2
amb
- P1
amb
)}
