(b) For P/N 517-21 (orange colored Model WAB-H18), measure case
thickness along the area with printed and/or engraved data
markings. Case thickness should not exceed 0.625 in.
(15.88 mm) at any point.
(2) If case thickness exceeds the value specified in paragraph 9.B. (1) above
discard light/battery assembly, and disregard the following steps.
Otherwise, continue test procedure.
(3) Visually inspect the 4 water entry holes of the battery. No corrosion or
incrustation should be visible.
(4) Place wire connecting battery to light into designated groove in light test
set. Do not attempt to disconnect light from battery.
(5) Apply pressure as labeled on case of light test set. Light of the light/battery
assembly should illuminate.
(6) If light/battery assembly performs paragraph 9.B. (5) above successfully
then it is considered "passed inspection".
(7) If light does not illuminate, or is very dim, discard and replace light/battery
assembly.
NOTE: If a series of lights do not light or are very dim, check the light test
set.
NOTE: To check the light test set, connect a load resistance of 6Ω ± 1/2Ω
between the test set probes. Also connect a voltmeter (10mV
accuracy required) across the pins. The voltage readings shall be
greater than or equal to 1.25 VDC. If voltage is less than required
level, replace test set batteries.
10. TAGGING AND RECORD KEEPING
A. After UXF-35 life preserver has passed inspection, (including repair, if required,
and subsequent re-inspection) attach an inspection tag securely. This tag must
provide the following information:
(1) Dates of testing and approval.
(2) Date of next scheduled maintenance inspection.
