You can set the REPO polarity. See the “REPO Input Polarity” setting in
“User Settings” in the UPS user's guide.
NOTE Depending on user configuration, the pins must be shorted or open to keep the UPS
running. To restart the UPS, reconnect (re-open) the REPO connector pins and turn on the UPS
manually. Maximum resistance in the shorted loop is 10 ohm.
NOTE Always test the REPO function before applying your critical load to avoid accidental
load loss.
Power Connections and Startup
To start up the UPS:
1. If optional
EBMs are installed, verify that the EBMs are connected to
the UPS (see page
11).
2. Verify that the internal bateries are connected (see page 10).
3. Plug the equipment to be protected into the UPS, but do not turn
on the protected equipment.
4. Make any necessary provisions for cord retention and strain relief.
NOTE DO NOT protect laser printers with the UPS because of the exceptionally high power
requirements of the heating elements.
5. E16 models only. Plug the power cord provided with the IBM
equipment into the input connector on the UPS rear panel (see
Figure 6 and Figure 5 on page 17).
6. Plug the UPS power cord into a power outlet.
The UPS front panel display illuminates and shows a status of “UPS
initializing...”
7. Verify that the UPS transfers to Standby mode (”UPS on standby”).
