Overview

This document provides operating instructions for the A3G800-BG95-01 device, a built-in fan designed for conveying air. The device is manufactured by ebm-papst Mulfingen GmbH & Co. KG.

Function Description:

The A3G800-BG95-01 is an EC axial fan, specifically designed as a built-in component for air conveyance. It operates within power systems with grounded neutral (TN/TT power systems) and is intended for stationary systems. The fan is capable of conveying air at ambient pressures between 800 mbar and 1050 mbar, and within a permitted ambient temperature range of -25°C to 60°C. Its primary function is to move air according to its technical specifications, ensuring efficient and reliable operation in various applications. The device incorporates an integrated PID controller, soft start functionality, and RS-485 MODBUS-RTU interface for control and monitoring. It also features a status relay for fault indication and a fixed voltage output for external devices.

Usage Features:

The device is designed for use in networks with quality characteristics as per EN 50160. It must be operated with all protective devices in place and according to the provided operating instructions. Proper mechanical and electrical connection is crucial for safe and intended operation.

  • Mechanical Connection: The fan should be carefully removed from packaging, avoiding shocks, and handled with safety shoes and cut-resistant gloves. It must be securely positioned during installation, ensuring the impeller moves freely without deformation. Vibration isolation is recommended when connecting to air ducts.
  • Electrical Connection: Always connect a protective earth first. Use cables that meet specified installation regulations and route them to avoid contact with rotating parts. The fan is a built-in component and requires an all-pole disconnection switch in its circuit.
  • Terminal Box Connection: Cables should be stripped to recommended lengths, ensuring the cable gland is sealed and connections are strain-free. The "PE" (protective earth) connection must be made first. Cable routing should prevent water ingress into the terminal box, ideally by forming a U-shaped loop.
  • Factory Settings: The device comes with pre-configured settings, including PWM control for speed, a device address of 01, and analog (linear) set value requirement.
  • Integrated Protective Features: The motor automatically switches off in case of rotor position detection error, blocked rotor, line undervoltage, or phase failure. Automatic restarts occur once the fault condition is resolved.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is essential for ensuring a long service life and trouble-free operation.

  • Safety Inspection: Periodically check the contact protection cover, device for damage, cable fastenings, cable insulation, tightness of cable glands, condensation drainage holes, welds for crack formation, and listen for abnormal bearing noise. Visual inspections should be performed at least every 6 months, with condensation drainage holes checked every 16 months.
  • Cleaning: Fans should be regularly checked for proper operation and soiling. Cleaning should only be performed when the fan is not in motion and disconnected from the power supply. Dry cleaning, such as using compressed air, is the preferred method. Aggressive cleaning agents, pointed objects, or high-pressure cleaners must not be used. If cleaning does not resolve vibrations, rebalancing or bearing replacement may be necessary.
  • Storage: Store the device in a dry, weather-protected, vibration-free, and clean environment in its original packaging. Protect against environmental effects and dirt until final installation. It is recommended to store the device for no longer than one year to ensure optimal service life.
  • Long-Term Operation: If the device is not operated for a lengthy period in a dry environment, it should be started up and run at full speed for one hour every four months. In damp environments, this should be done for at least two hours once a month to move bearings and evaporate condensate.
  • Disposal: The product is designed for ecological disposal. It is primarily made of steel, copper, aluminum, and plastic. Components should be separated for recycling into categories such as steel and iron, aluminum, non-ferrous metals (e.g., motor windings), plastics, insulating materials, cables and wires, and electronic scrap. Ferrite magnets can be disposed of with normal iron and steel. Country-specific legal requirements for waste disposal must be observed.
