E C O P H Y S I C S Operating Guide
CLD 780 TR / July 2000 79
5.3 Shutting the system down
5.3.1 Shutting the system down for an extended period
(refer to Fig. 4.3):
– turn CLD 780 TR analyzer and off by pressing the illuminated main
power switch on the front panel.
– ideally allow the pump and ozone scrubber to run for a further 30 - 60
mins, with the dryer cartridges for the ozone generator and PMT flus-
hing flow still attached. This ensures that the instrument is totally pur-
ged of any remaining ozone and prevents condensation or ice forming
on the PMT.
5.3.2 Shutting the system down for a short period
– Set the analyzer to “Standby“ mode by pressing „SYS“ then „YES“ .
Ozone generators are now switched off.
All other operating temperatures are maintained at their respective set
points
– Do not switch off the vacuum pump.
To return to normal operation, activate the analyzer with the „MEAS“
key. After a short „O3UP“- phase the analyzer is fully operational again.
Note: Even after extended interruption of operation the last set values of
all variables including calibration values are retained in battery buffered
memory.
Caution:
Before opening the connection between the analyzer and the vacuum
pump or the line between dry air inlet and silica gel cartridge switch
off the CLD 780 TR and let run the vacuum pump for at least one hour.
Otherwise damp air might condense, freeze and destroy the photo-
multiplier (PMT).
