E C O P H Y S I C S Calibration
CLD 780 TR / July 2000 83
– a leak downstream of the flow restrictors allows ambient air to get into
the reaction chamber.
The manufacturer suggests performing the single point calibration for NO
once per week or more frequently. The determination of the converter ef-
ficiency of the PLC 762 (NO
2
-calibration) should be performed once per
24 hours or more frequently. A multi-point calibration should be done pe-
riodically e.g. after every maintenance check.
Remark: ECO PHYSICS offers an integrated system called JETNOX, one
example of which was installed in a Boeing 747 passenger/cargo air-
craft, automatically measuring stratospheric air quality for 12 months as
part of the Swiss NOXAR project.
The JETNOX system contains:
– 1 or 2 CLD 780 TRs
– 1 PLC 762
– 1 ozone analyzer
– 1 gas calibrator
– 1 zero air generator
as well as a specifically developed data acquisition software offering so-
phisticated (automated) PC-based control functions and a graphic inter-
face.
The JETNOX system offers the end user the following additional features:
– Ozone measurements and NO
2
value adjustments taking ozone con-
centration fluctuations into account.
– GPT calibration can be programmed for unattended automatic NO
and NO
2
calibrations; all necessary components (listed above) are
controlled by a PC through RS-232 interface connections.
– With the ozone correction, the W
K
evaluation and subsequent measu-
rement value adjustments are even more accurate and consistent.
