These ports can be connected directly to a standard PC serial port with a 9-pin, three wire straight serial cable. A
“null modem” cable MAY NOT be used for this purpose since it will reverse the connections of pins 2 and 3. Null
Modem cable may be used only when the intent is to connect two encoders together via the serial port (see
Cloning on page 17).
