Overview

This document provides comprehensive instructions and specifications for the Einhell TE-CS 18/89 Li Cordless Mini Hand-Held Circular Saw. It covers everything from safety regulations and proper use to technical data, operation, maintenance, and warranty information.

Function Description:

The Einhell TE-CS 18/89 Li is a cordless mini hand-held circular saw designed for making straight cuts in various materials. Its primary application is sawing wood, wood-type materials, and plastics. With the appropriate cutting wheel, it can also be used to cut tiles. The cordless design offers flexibility and portability, allowing users to work without being tethered to a power outlet. The saw features a parallel stop for precise parallel cuts and a dust extraction system connection to keep the work area clean and safe. The adjustable cutting depth allows for versatility in different material thicknesses, and the spindle lock facilitates easy saw blade changes. The integrated battery capacity indicator provides real-time information on the battery's charge status, ensuring uninterrupted work.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Motor power supply: 18 V DC
  • Idling speed: 3,500 min⁻¹
  • Cutting depth: max. 28 mm
  • Saw blade: Ø 89 mm
  • Blade holder: Ø 10 mm
  • Weight: 1.75 kg
  • Sound pressure level (LDA): 90.1 dB(A)
  • Sound power level (LWA): 101.1 dB(A)
  • Vibration emission value (aₕ): 5.14 m/s²

Usage Features:

The saw is designed for user-friendly operation with several features enhancing its usability and safety:

  • Handle (1): Ergonomically designed for a firm grip, ensuring control during operation.
  • ON/OFF switch (2) and Locking button (3): These work in conjunction to prevent accidental activation. To switch on, both the locking button and the ON/OFF switch must be pressed simultaneously. Releasing them switches the tool off automatically.
  • Cutting depth setting: The locking lever (4) allows for easy adjustment of the cutting depth, which can be set according to a scale (a). For wood or plastic, the selected cutting depth should be slightly larger than the material thickness. For precise cuts without damaging underlying surfaces, the depth can be set exactly to the material thickness, though this may result in a slightly less clean cut.
  • Soleplate (6) and Lever for raising the soleplate (5): The soleplate provides stability during cuts, and the lever allows it to be raised, making it easier to start cuts at the edge of a workpiece. The soleplate must always lie flat on the workpiece during operation.
  • Parallel stop (9) with Locking screw (8): This feature enables users to make precise parallel cuts. The parallel stop slides into a guide (b) on the saw foot (6) and is secured with the locking screw (8).
  • Dust extraction system (10) and Adapter (11): The saw can be connected to an external dust extraction unit or vacuum cleaner via the adapter, significantly reducing chips and dust in the work area, protecting both the user's health and the equipment.
  • Spindle lock (14): This mechanism simplifies saw blade changes by locking the spindle, allowing the securing screw (12) to be loosened or tightened easily with the provided hex key (c).
  • Battery capacity indicator (h): A switch (i) activates three LEDs that indicate the battery's charge status: all three lit means fully charged, two or one lit indicates adequate charge, and one blinking LED means the battery is empty and needs recharging. All LEDs blinking indicates a defective battery pack.
  • Charger indicator: The charger itself has LED indicators (Red LED, Green LED) that communicate the charging status, such as "Ready for use," "Charging," "Battery charged," "Adapted charging," "Fault," and "Temperature fault." This helps users understand the charging process and troubleshoot any issues.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the saw.

  • Cleaning: All safety devices, air vents, and the motor housing should be kept free of dirt and dust. The equipment should be wiped with a clean, moist cloth and some soft soap, or blown with compressed air at low pressure. Cleaning agents and solvents should be avoided as they can damage plastic parts. It is recommended to clean the device immediately after each use.
  • Carbon brushes: In cases of excessive sparking, the carbon brushes should be checked by a qualified electrician. Replacement of carbon brushes should only be performed by a qualified electrician.
  • Saw blade changes: The saw blade (7) is secured by a screw (12) and flange (13). The spindle lock (14) facilitates loosening and tightening the screw with a hex key (c). Users must ensure the new saw blade is correctly fitted, runs true, and all clamping screws are securely tightened before operation. Only saw blades complying with EN 847-1 and of the same type as the original should be used.
  • Battery care: The rechargeable battery should be recharged promptly when performance drops and never allowed to become fully discharged to prevent defects. The battery and charger should be stored in a dry place with an ambient temperature between 10-20°C for the battery and 10-40°C for the tool and charger.
  • Storage: The equipment and accessories should be stored in a dark, dry place above freezing temperature, ideally between 5 and 30°C, in its original packaging.
  • Ordering replacement parts: When ordering spare parts, users should provide the machine type, article number, identification number, and the required part number. Information on prices and availability can be found on www.isc-gmbh.info.
  • Disposal and recycling: The packaging materials are recyclable. The equipment itself, being made of various materials, should not be disposed of with household refuse but taken to a suitable collection center for proper disposal in accordance with national recycling and waste disposal regulations. Batteries and cordless tools should be packed individually in plastic bags during shipping or disposal to prevent short circuits and fires.
