Whenever the globe button is grayed out, as above, your K4 is not acting as a
client or as a server. Once a connection to a server is established, the globe
changes color, and an arrow pointing up is added:
3. Tap the globe button. This will bring up the client settings screen.
4A. Local K4 connections: Any server-enabled K4s discovered on the local
network (LAN) will be automatically displayed in the
"Available Servers" list. To configure them for use, you'll need to enter and
save the password for each, starting with step 5, below.
4B. Remote K4 connections: Remote server-enabled K4s (i.e., those not on
your local network) must be manually added to the list of "Available
Servers." Tap the <NEW> button to create a blank list entry, then follow the
instructions below.
5. Tap the <Host or IP> field and use the pop-up keyboard to enter the
server K4's external IP address. Complete text entry by tapping the
keyboard's <ENTER> button, or cancel by tapping <x>. IP ADDRESS FORMAT:
IP addresses must be entered using the format nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn, where
each field may have from 1 to 3 digits. If the server-site router is using an
external port other than 9204, add the external port number to the IP
address in this format: nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn:pppp, where pppp is the external
port number, with 1 to 5 digits.
6. Enter a descriptive nickname for this K4 by tapping the <Name> field. Use
the pop-up keyboard.
7. Tap the <Password> field to enter the server K4's password, again using
the pop-up keyboard. Tap the keyboard's up arrow to enter uppercase
characters if required. Complete text entry by tapping <ENTER> on the
keyboard.
