NOTE: If there's more than one client connected, all clients will be subject to
each other's control changes. You may wish to coordinate operating times to
avoid side effects, such as unexpected QSYs, loss of QSOs, etc. Typical uses for
multiple clients include training (with some clients passively watching what an
operator does at the server or at another client) and advanced contesting with
multiple operators partnering to work a pileup or to search for multipliers
while also running.
DISCLAIMERS: (1) Elecraft is not responsible for any damage that may occur to
your server K4 or other equipment due to unsafe operation by you or by third
parties. (2) Elecraft is not responsible for unauthorized access to, or
manipulation of any radio gear, computing equipment, or data. (3) As the
control operator, you are responsible for compliance with all applicable
regulations, in the country of the client and of the server, if different. (4) There
may be limitations on what constitutes valid contacts for contests or award
credit when operating a remote station. Please consult all applicable rules and
guidelines.
K4 Client Settings
Follow the instructions below to configure access to one or more K4 server
radios. Except where noted, these steps apply to all client types (K4, K4/0,
VK4, iOS, etc.).
Most of these steps need only be done once. After that, just a few control taps
will establish a connection (see Establishing a Client Connection).
1. If you're using a K4 as the client, install version R36.BETA1 (or later)
software. Earlier versions do not support remote front-panel emulation. (K4/0,
VK4, and third-party app update instructions are TBD.)
2. On the K4 operating screen, you'll see a new "globe" button near the "?"
button:
