Overview

This document describes a front-load dryer, offering comprehensive guidance on its operation, features, and maintenance. It is designed to help users maximize the appliance's efficiency and longevity while ensuring safe usage.

Function Description

The Electrolux front-load dryer is designed to efficiently dry various types of laundry. It utilizes a heated air system and tumbling action to remove moisture from clothes. Depending on the model, it may also incorporate steam technology for enhanced fabric care. The dryer offers a range of cycles and settings to accommodate different fabric types and drying needs, from heavy-duty items to delicates. Its primary function is to provide a convenient and effective solution for drying clothes, helping to reduce wrinkles, remove allergens, and refresh garments.

Usage Features

The dryer features a user-friendly interface with a cycle selector, LED display, and dedicated buttons for temperature, dryness level, and options.

  • Cycle Selection: Users can choose from various cycles by turning the cycle selector ring or pressing the cycles button. Available cycles include:
    • Auto Dry Cycles: These cycles use moisture sensing bars to detect the load's moisture level and automatically adjust drying time to achieve the selected dryness level. This saves time and energy while protecting fabrics.
      • Normal: For everyday fabrics like cottons, linens, and sheets.
      • Towels: For heavy loads such as towels and non-rubber-backed bath mats.
      • Mixed Load (on select models): For loads containing a mix of fabrics.
      • Heavy Duty: For durable fabrics like jeans and overalls.
      • Allergen (on select models): Reduces allergens in the load. Not recommended for heat-prone items.
      • Casual (on select models): For cottons, blends, and permanent press items with a no-iron finish.
      • Delicates: For knits and delicate items.
    • Time Dry Cycles: Allow manual selection of drying time (e.g., 30, 60, or 75 minutes, depending on the model). Users can also select any drying temperature.
      • 20min Fast Dry (400 series model): Quickly dries small loads in 20 minutes.
      • 18min Fast Dry (500 series model): Quickly dries small loads in 18 minutes.
      • 15min Fast Dry (600 series model): Quickly dries small loads in 15 minutes.
      • Instant Refresh (on select models): Refreshes fabrics, removes odors, and reduces static by injecting steam.
  • Drying Temperature: Users can adjust the temperature setting (sanitize, high, normal, low, air dry) to suit fabric care labels. The "sanitize" option (on select models) is recommended for durable fabrics and towels to remove harmful bacteria. The "air dry" setting (no heat) is suitable for items containing feathers, foam rubber, plastics, or for refreshing clothes.
  • Dryness Level (Auto Dry): For Auto Dry cycles, users can select the desired dryness level (max, high, normal, less, damp). "Normal" is recommended for most loads. "Damp" is for items to be partially dried before hanging or ironing.
  • Cycle Options:
    • Extended Tumble (on select models): Tumbles the dried load without heat for 30 minutes to prevent wrinkles if not removed promptly.
    • Wrinkle Release: Tumbles the dry load without heat for 5 minutes out of every 10 minutes for a total of 45 minutes to prevent wrinkles and tangling. Can be combined with "extended tumble" for up to 75 minutes.
    • Delay Start (on select models): Allows delaying the start of a cycle for 30 minutes to 12 hours. The dryer periodically tumbles without heat during the countdown to redistribute the load and maximize freshness.
    • Perfect Steam™ (on select models): Injects steam into clothing before cool down to reduce wrinkling, ironing, and static cling.
    • Anti-Static (on select models): Injects steam into clothing just before cycle completion to reduce static.
    • Lock: Locks controls to prevent accidental operation, especially by children.
    • Eco: Reduces drying temperature by a few degrees to save energy. This increases cycle times slightly but decreases overall energy usage.
  • Status Display: Shows estimated drying time for Auto Dry cycles and actual time for Time Dry cycles. It also indicates cycle phase progression.
  • Drum Light (on select models): Illuminates the drum when the door is opened for easier loading and unloading.
  • Reversible Door: The dryer door can be hinged on either the right or left side to accommodate different laundry room layouts.
  • Optional Drying Rack (not included): For items that should not be tumble dried. It inserts into the dryer drum and allows items to dry flat. Recommended for use with time dry cycles and air dry setting.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the dryer's performance and safety. The manual provides clear instructions for routine care.

  • Lint Filter Cleaning: The lint filter must be cleaned before or after every load. The "CLEAN LINT" reminder will be displayed at the end of each cycle. This prevents lint build-up, which can restrict airflow, cause longer drying times, and pose a fire hazard. If a waxy build-up occurs from fabric softener sheets, the filter should be washed with warm, soapy water.
  • Drum Interior Cleaning: If the dryer drum becomes stained from non-colorfast fabrics, it should be cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild liquid household cleanser. Residue must be removed before drying the next load. Spray cleansers should not be used in the dryer interior.
  • External Cleaning: The cabinet should be cleaned with mild soap and water. Harsh, gritty, or abrasive cleansers should be avoided. Diluted chlorine bleach can be used for stains, followed by rinsing. Glue residue can be removed with warm water and mild detergent or by using the sticky side of tape. Chrome parts should be cleaned with a damp cloth.
  • Professional Servicing: Approximately every 18 months, a qualified service person should clean the dryer cabinet interior, lint screen housing, and exhaust duct. Excessive lint build-up in these areas can lead to inefficient drying and potential fire hazards.
  • Water Inlet Hose Inspection (Steam Models Only): For steam models, water inlet hoses should be periodically inspected for leaks, wear, cuts, corrosion, and bulges. All hoses should be replaced every 5 years to reduce the risk of hose failures.
  • Pre-Moving Preparation: Before moving the dryer, a strip of cardboard or thin fiberboard should be placed under the front leveling legs to prevent floor damage.
  • Limited Use/Vacation Instructions: If the dryer will not be used for extended periods, the water supply (for steam models) should be turned off, and the electrical power disconnected.
  • Reconnecting Water Supply and Electrical: When reinstalling the dryer, ensure it is level, and the water and electrical power supplies are properly connected. Water lines should be flushed of debris before connecting to the dryer inlet. Check for leaks and replace supply hoses if needed.

By following these guidelines, users can ensure their Electrolux front-load dryer operates safely and efficiently, providing optimal drying results for years to come.
