To remove a knife, simply loosen and remove the three M6 bolts retaining each knife.
In this situation always use two ring spanners fitted with long steels.
Replace immediately any damaged bolts.
Free the shred knives using a self-grip wrench.
Remove a knife from the left-hand side, rotate it through 180° and fit it in the same
position, but to the right-hand disc. Rotate the knife previously removed from the right-
hand disc and fit it in the location thus freed already from the left-hand disc. Repeat this
procedure for each knife of zone A.
After you have reversed all of the knives, check every knife disc element facing the
wall, to make sure the bevel blade edges of the respective knives do face the mid-point
of the shredding chamber rather than the wall sheet. If this is not the case, then this
means that two knives have not turned around in the correct manner.
New sets of knives are available form your ELIET Dealer under the following part num-
ber : BU 401 100 102
Renewing knives simply involves removing the used one and have it replaced with a
new item.
Before fitting the new knife in between the two knife discs, first remove any dirt that
may have built up between both mating discs. To do so, use a stripping knife.
Also when fitting the new knife, take care to ensure that the bevel of the blade edge –
in the event of the blade holder that bends towards the wall – is facing the center of the
shredding chamber.
On renewing shredding knives, always fit new bolts and nuts.
When refitting the shredding knives check that all bolts are tight. It is a good practice
to check the bolts for correct tightness before fitting the shredding screen.
When refitting the bolts in the discs, first make sure the nut is located on the left side
of the disc. This ensures knife drum direction of rotation locks the nuts.
The next time you start shredding, consideration should be given that new shred kni-
ves take time to stabilise. This means the knives will vibrate loose between the discs.
Thus, after the machine has been operating for (5) five hours, retighten the knife
bolts.
