Important Information on Alternate Site Testing (AST)

test for blood glucose other than your ngertip
such as palm and forearm (alternate site testing,
or AST). Alternate site testing can be less
painful than ngertip testing, but because of the
physiological differences between your ngertip
and palm and forearm
(1)
; alternate site test results
may be signicantly different than results from ngertip testing under
certain conditions. You should consult with your doctor or healthcare
professional before using alternate site testing.
