Overview

This document provides a comprehensive guide for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Empava Massage Bathtub, model EMPV-59AIS04.

Function Description

The Empava Massage Bathtub is designed to provide a relaxing and therapeutic bathing experience. It features a hydro massage system with adjustable water jets and a multi-function handheld shower with a backflow protector. The bathtub is equipped with a control switch for the hydro massage flow rate, allowing users to adjust the intensity of the water column. It also includes a manual drainage system with an overflow cover.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model: EMPV-59AIS04
  • Dimensions: 59 1/16" (length) x 29 17/32" (width) x 23 5/8" (height). The internal bathing area is approximately 37 13/32" x 17 23/32".
  • Power Supply: Universal home power.
  • Electrical Requirements: External circuitry requires a high-sensitive and fast-type leakage protection switch with an induced current rating below 15mA, a trip time less than 0.1 second, and a rated current above 30A. The product must be grounded and installed by a qualified licensed electrician.
  • Water Supply: Requires 1/2" external thread cold/hot water hoses, protruding 30mm from the wall. It is recommended to install a valve in each pipe for maintenance.
  • Drainage: Requires a drainage hole of at least ø50mm. The drain pipe should be installed with a slope above 1:50.
  • Faucet: Features a waist drum shape three-piece set faucet with a cold water switch (marked 'C'), a hot water switch (marked 'H'), and a waterfall/sprinkling style transferable switch (marked with an icon).
  • Water Temperature: The water in a whirlpool should never exceed 104°F (40°C). Temperatures between 100°F (38°C) and 104°F (40°C) are considered safe for healthy adults, with usage limited to approximately 30 minutes. Lower temperatures are recommended for extended use and younger children.
  • Safety Features: Includes a leakage protection switch, grounding connection, and a suction cover to reduce the hazard of hair or body entrapment.

Usage Features

  • Installation Preparation: Before installation, ensure the floor can support the total weight of the bathtub, water, and user. Waterproofing is crucial to prevent leaks. The installation site must have water supply, power supply, and drainage.
  • Leveling: The bathtub is equipped with leveling feet that must be adjusted using a wrench or level ruler to ensure the tub is perfectly level. Improper leveling can lead to increased noise, remaining water in hoses or drainage, and bathtub shaking.
  • Water Connection: Connect the stainless steel 1/2" cold and hot water hoses to the bathroom's corresponding cold and hot water hoses. Before connecting, open the water pipe for a period to flush out debris, then insert a filter screen to prevent debris from entering the bathtub pipe.
  • Electrical Connection: Install a proper dedicated plug with a ground electrode to the power line and insert it firmly. Ensure the ground is connected to the motor's ground terminal, the stainless steel frame, and the plug's ground wires. The power connection requires professional operation.
  • Hydro Massage System: Activate the massage system by pressing the center button once. Pressing it repeatedly will shut it down. The hydro massage flow rate control switch allows users to adjust the water column strength: clockwise for smaller strength, anticlockwise for stronger.
  • Adjustable Water Jets: The angle of inflow from the water jets can be adjusted by turning the head of the jets up, down, left, or right.
  • Handheld Shower: The multi-function handheld shower features a backflow protector. The water pattern can be adjusted (inner, middle, or external water column) by rotating the shower head shell.
  • Drainage: To drain the tub, step on the drain cover and press it down. Excess water will be drained by the overflow if the water level exceeds the maximum.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Do not operate the unit without the suction cover.
    • Do not permit children to use the unit without adult supervision.
    • Pregnant women, individuals with heart disease, high/low blood pressure, circulatory problems, diabetes, or those on medication should consult a physician before use.
    • Avoid using drugs or alcohol before or during whirlpool use due to the risk of unconsciousness and drowning.
    • Never drop or insert objects into any opening within the whirlpool.
    • Do not operate electrically connected devices within 5 feet (1.5 meters) of the bathtub.
    • Do not modify the power supply cord or use it with extension cords or multiple plugs.
    • Do not put fire (e.g., lighted cigarettes) on the bathtub.
    • Do not stand on the bathtub while working.

Maintenance Features

  • Freezing Prevention: In winter, empty the bathtub and pipes to prevent freezing and rupturing.
  • Water Quality: Use only standard tap water; well water can cause corrosion.
  • UV Light Protection: Prevent direct exposure to ultraviolet or bright light to avoid accelerated aging and damage.
  • Heat Protection: Keep the bathtub away from cigarette butts, hair dryers, and other heat sources to prevent high-temperature deformation.
  • Ventilation and Dryness: Keep the bathtub ventilated and dry when not in use. Avoid contact with corrosive substances.
  • Cleaning:
    • Use water or mild detergent for regular cleaning.
    • Avoid acids, alkalis, organic solvents, or acidic/alkaline cleaning agents, as they can damage the surface.
    • For stubborn stains, use a clean cloth impregnated with a little alcohol.
    • For plating parts, use cotton fabric to scrub.
    • Light scratches and dull areas can be restored by using NO. 1200 waterproof sandpaper (wet) for coarse grinding, then NO. 2000 waterproof sandpaper (wet) for fine grinding, followed by polishing with a soft cloth and polishing agent.
  • System Flushing: Flush the pump and pipe circulation systems before first use and monthly thereafter.
    1. Do not run the jet massage system dry.
    2. Fill the tub with hot water (approx. 40°C) 2-3 cm above the jets and add 2-3 teaspoons of low-foaming detergent.
    3. Turn on all functions and run for 10 minutes.
    4. Drain the tub completely.
    5. Fill the tub with cold water above the jets.
    6. Turn on all functions and run for 15 minutes.
    7. Drain the tub completely.
  • Suction Cover Cleaning: Monthly, unscrew the suction cover (if it has visible screws) and clean away any hair, lint, or debris from the cover and housing, then remount it.
  • GFCI Testing: The ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) should be tested regularly, preferably before each use.
  • Post-Installation Check: After installation, conduct a trial operation to ensure everything is working correctly.
  • Product Protection: Use cardboard to protect the bathtub during installation to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting Guide

  • Water pump will not start:
    • Check if the air hose to the pneumatic switch is loose; tighten it.
    • Check if the pneumatic switch is not flexible; adjust it.
    • Check for disconnected power or defective wiring; insert the plug.
    • Check for debris stuck in the pump impeller; clean it.
    • Ensure water level reaches the minimum required for the bathtub.
  • Cannot control the hydro massage flow rate:
    • Check if power is normal (not low voltage); insert the plug tightly.
    • Check if the pneumatic switch works; adjust it.
    • Check if the air hose is connected tightly.
  • Water hose leaks:
    • Check if the rubber ring is good; change it if necessary.
    • Check if the screw nut is tightened and the connection is good; tighten it.
