Overview

This document is an installation instruction and owner's manual for the EMPV-JT351N massage bathtub. It covers installation, operation, and maintenance of the unit.

Function Description

The EMPV-JT351N is a massage bathtub designed for home use, offering various functions to enhance the bathing experience. Key functions include:

  • Hydro Massage System: Features water jets for a massaging effect. The flow rate of these jets can be adjusted using a control switch.
  • Air Bubble System: Provides a relaxing bubble bath experience.
  • Waterfall Feature: Offers a cascading water effect.
  • LED Light: Includes an LED lighting system with automatic color changes, which can also be manually switched between different colors.
  • Heating Function: For models equipped with this feature, an inline heater maintains the water temperature. The temperature can be preset, and the heater automatically shuts off if the water reaches 104°F (40°C).
  • Handheld Shower: A multi-function handheld shower with a backflow protector allows for adjustable water patterns (inner, middle, external water columns).
  • Water Inlet and Drainage: Equipped with hot and cold water inlets and a manual drainage system with an overflow drain.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Dimensions: The bathtub measures approximately 67 inches in length, 29 inches in width, and 24 inches in height. The internal depth is about 17 inches, and the internal width at the widest point is 42 inches.
  • Water Supply: Requires 1/2" external thread connectors for hot and cold water hoses, protruding 30mm from the wall.
  • Drainage: Requires a drainage hole of at least ø50mm. The drain-pipe should be installed with a slope above 1:50.
  • Power Supply: Uses universal home power.
    • Leakage Protection: External circuitry must be equipped with a high-sensitive and fast-type leakage protection switch. The induced current rating should be below 15mA, trip time less than 0.1 second, and rated current above 30A.
    • Grounding: The product must be installed with proper grounding and an electric leakage switch by a qualified licensed electrician. Earthed appliances must be permanently connected to fixed wiring.
    • Electrical Components: Parts incorporating electrical components (except remote control devices) must be located or fixed so they cannot fall into the bath. No electric appliances should be within 5 feet/1.5 meters of the bathtub.
  • Water Temperature Limits: The water in the whirlpool should never exceed 104°F (40°C). Safe temperatures for healthy adults are between 100°F (38°C) and 104°F (40°C). Pregnant women should limit water temperature to 100°F (38°C).
  • Suction Cover: The unit must not be operated without the suction cover over the suction fitting, as it is a safety device against hair or body entrapment.

Usage Features

  • Control Panel (OVS-371): A computer control panel allows users to operate various functions.
    • Power On/Off: Press the "OK" key to power on/off the system.
    • Function Selection: Use the "left" or "right" arrow keys to navigate through function icons (Water jets, Light, Water temperature, Air jets, Massage Waterfall, Bubble bath, Heating) and press "OK" to activate or deactivate them.
    • Lockout Button: The keyboard automatically locks after 2 minutes of inactivity, indicated by a lock icon. Press "OK" to unlock.
    • Automatic Shut-off: The water pump automatically turns off after 60 minutes of continuous operation. The air bubble function also turns off automatically every 60 minutes.
  • Adjustable Leveling Feet: The bathtub is equipped with leveling feet that can be adjusted using a wrench or level ruler to ensure stability and proper drainage.
  • Water Jet Adjustment: Rotating the head of the water jets clockwise/anticlockwise adjusts the water force. Turning the head up, down, left, or right adjusts the angle of inflow.
  • Manual Drainage: The drain cover can be rotated clockwise to close the drain and anticlockwise to open it. Excess water is drained by the overflow when the water level exceeds the maximum.

Maintenance Features

  • Regular Cleaning:
    • System Flush: The pump and pipe circulation systems should be flushed before first use and monthly thereafter. This involves filling the tub with hot water (approx. 40°C) 2-3 cm above the jets, adding low-foaming detergent, running all functions for 10 minutes, draining, then refilling with cold water above jets, running functions for 15 minutes, and draining again.
    • Suction Cover Cleaning: The suction cover should be cleaned regularly to remove hair or lint. For removable covers (those with visible screws), unscrew and clean the cover and housing monthly.
    • General Cleaning: Use water or mild detergent. Avoid acids, alkalis, organic solvents, or acidic/alkaline cleaning agents. For stubborn stains, use a clean cloth impregnated with a little alcohol.
  • Plating Parts Maintenance: Use cotton fabric to scrub plating parts.
  • Scratch Repair: Light scratches and dulled areas can be restored using NO. 1200 waterproof sandpaper (dipped in water) for coarse grinding, followed by NO. 2000 waterproof sandpaper (dipped in water) for fine grinding, and finally polishing with a soft cloth and polishing agent.
  • Freezing Prevention: During winter use, the bathtub and pipes must be emptied to prevent freezing and potential damage.
  • GFCI Testing: The ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) should be tested regularly, ideally before each use.
  • Ventilation: When not in use, keep the bathtub ventilated and dry.
  • Protection: Avoid direct sunlight or bright light to prevent aging and damage. Keep away from heat sources like cigarette butts and hair dryers. Do not drop or strike the bathtub with hard objects.
  • Professional Installation: Any electrical connections or modifications must be performed by a qualified electrician.
  • Trial Operation: After installation, a full trial operation is required to ensure proper functioning and detect any leaks.
