} If required, adjust the operating voltage to the mains voltage. To do so, switch off
the device and disconnect the mains plug from the electric socket.
} Place the device on its side.
} Use a coin or other round object to turn the slot on the voltage selector switch and
adjust it to the correct operating voltage.
ü The device is ready for operation.

3.4 Opening and closing the device
CAUTION
Risk of burns
Immediately after a PCR run, the heated lid and the sample block may still be hot. There
is a risk of burns on the inside of the lid and on the sample block.
¡ Keep a safe distance from hot components or wear heat-resistant gloves when
opening the device.
¡ Alternatively, allow the device to cool down before opening it.
NOTICE
Damage to the locking mechanism
If the lid is under pressure when opened, this may damage the locking mechanism.
¡ Always reduce the contact pressure on the lid using the lid wheel before opening the
lid.
Opening the lid
The heated lid exerts a constant contact pressure on the samples. You must reduce the
contact pressure before opening the lid.
Each sample block has its own lid. This allows opening and closing the sample blocks in-
dependently.
} Reduce the contact pressure of the lid. To do this, turn the wheel counterclockwise
until you feel no more resistance.
} Press the lid sealing button on the front of the device to open the lid.
ü The lid swings open automatically.
