The EnviroVent SILENT DESIGN axial extractor fan is a ventilation unit designed for wall or ceiling mounting, suitable for extracting air directly to the atmosphere or via a ducted system. It is manufactured to current technical safety regulations and ISO 9001 quality standards, with all components checked and each final product individually tested.
Function Description:
The SILENT DESIGN fan is primarily used for extracting air from rooms, particularly in areas where humidity or odors need to be managed. It is available in different models (S, T, HT, P) offering various functionalities:
- SILENT S DESIGN: This basic model can be switched on either through the room's light switch (Fig. 3) or an independent switch (Fig. 4).
- SILENT T DESIGN: This model includes an adjustable over-run timer. After the switch is turned off, the fan continues to operate for a selected period, adjustable between 1 and 30 minutes (Fig. 7). The timer is set via a potentiometer on the printed circuit board, turning anticlockwise to reduce the "run on" time and clockwise to increase it.
- SILENT HT DESIGN: This advanced model features an electronic humidistat and a timer. The humidistat allows the fan to operate automatically when the room's humidity level exceeds a set point, adjustable from 60% to 90% Relative Humidity (RH). The timer, adjustable between 1 and 30 minutes, controls the fan's operation after the humidity drops below the set level. Settings for both humidity and timer are controlled by 8 dip-switches on the printed circuit board (Fig. 10).
- Dip-switch 1: "Interval" function selection. When "ON," this function prevents the fan from running for extended periods in very wet environments. It causes the fan to switch off automatically one hour after it starts, then remain off for a set interval. If humidity is still high after the interval, it switches on again for one hour. This function also allows the fan to switch on automatically for one hour, regardless of humidity, if the humidity level is consistently low or the fan is improperly installed.
- Dip-switches 2 and 3: Interval time settings. These control the duration of the "Interval" function (4, 8, 12, or 24 hours).
- Dip-switches 4 and 5: Humidistat settings. These allow selection of humidity thresholds (60%, 70%, 80%, or 90% RH).
- Dip-switches 6 and 7: Over-run timer settings. These control the fan's run-on time (1, 5, 15, or 30 minutes).
- Dip-switch 8: Start-up timer function. When "ON," this function delays the fan's start-up for 50 seconds. This prevents the fan from switching on for brief bathroom uses. If usage exceeds 50 seconds and humidity is below the set level, the fan switches on and runs for the time set by the timer after the light switches off.
- Automatic operation with external switch: The HT model can also be connected with three wires to allow an external switch (e.g., light switch) to override the humidistat, forcing the fan to operate even if the humidity level is below the set point. In this scenario, the fan continues to operate for the selected over-run time after the light switch is turned off.
- SILENT P DESIGN: This model is equipped with an on/off pullcord switch for manual operation (Fig. 11).

- Electrical Insulation: Double electrical insulation (Class II), meaning no earth connection is required.
- IP Rating: IP45 rated, suitable for application in zones 1 and 2 with RCD protection.
- Operating Temperature: Typically -5°C to +40°C, unless stated otherwise.

Usage Features:
- Safety: The appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning safe use and understand the hazards. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children without supervision.
- Installation: The unit is mounted using 4 raw plugs and screws. It is crucial to ensure no obstructions to airflow and that the impeller turns freely. The fan must be fixed without distortion to prevent noise or impeller rotation issues. The backdraught shutter (3) must open freely.
- Electrical Connection: The fan is designed for single-phase supply. Electrical wiring must comply with local regulations. The electrical cable enters through the cable entry (4).
- Airflow: Adequate air inlets to the room are essential for proper operation. If the fan operates in a room with a boiler or other combustion device requiring airflow, ensure sufficient air supply to prevent backdrafting.
- Environment: The extractor must not be used in explosive or corrosive atmospheres. The spigot cannot be connected to a duct used to extract smoke from gas or other fuel appliances.
- Humidistat Tape (SILENT HT DESIGN): Do not remove the tape covering the humidity sensor on the grille's reserve.
- Factory Settings (SILENT HT DESIGN):
- Interval function: OFF
- Interval time: 4h
- Humidistat: 60%HR
- Timer: 1 minute
- Start-up timer function: OFF
Maintenance Features:
- Electrical Isolation: Fan equipment must be electrically isolated and locked out before any maintenance work begins.
- Cleaning: The extractor fan only requires periodic cleaning with a cloth lightly impregnated with a soft detergent.
- Warranty: The SILENT DESIGN range products come with a five-year warranty, subject to specified maintenance. Tampering with the unit by unauthorized persons will void the warranty. Accidental damage, misuse, or abuse are not covered. A receipt is required as proof of purchase.
- End-of-Life: In accordance with EEC legislation, the product should be recycled at the nearest Waste Management Plant at the end of its serviceable life. Packaging should also be recycled in appropriate bins.
