Overview

The Evoflame is a range of fires developed by Evonic Fires, designed to be operated using the E-Smart Cloud app on a smartphone or any internet-connected device. This allows users to control various aspects of their electric fire, including changing the flame effect, operating the heater, and adjusting the temperature, all through the convenience of the app.

Function Description:

The core function of the Evoflame system is to provide remote control and smart features for an electric fire. Users can turn the fire's lights on or off, activate or deactivate the heater, and set a desired temperature. The app also allows for programming timers, enabling the fire to turn on or off at specific times. The system facilitates updates to the fire's firmware through the app, ensuring it runs the latest version. In cases of connection issues or incorrect setup, the fire can be reset to factory settings.

Important Technical Specifications (Minimum Requirements for App Connectivity):

To ensure proper functionality and connection between the Evoflame fire and the E-Smart Cloud app, specific minimum requirements for the Wi-Fi router and smart device must be met:

Wi-Fi Router:

  • Compatibility: Must be compatible with IEEE 802.11n/g/b standards.
  • Encryption: Requires WPA2 encryption for secure communication.
  • Radio Frequency: Operates on the 2.4GHz band. It's crucial to note that the appliance can only be used on a 2.4GHz band.
  • Wireless Auto Channel: The router should support auto-search for a wireless LAN radio channel free of interference.
  • Protocol Support: Must support the User Datagram Protocol (UDP).
  • Distance: The minimum distance from the internet router to the fire should be 70cm.

Smart Device:

  • Operating System: Requires iOS 8.0 or Android 4.4 or later versions.

Usage Features:

The Evoflame system offers a user-friendly experience through its E-Smart Cloud app, providing several key usage features:

  • Step-by-Step Setup Guide: The manual provides a detailed step-by-step guide for pairing the appliance with the app. This includes instructions on ensuring the fire is plugged in and switched on, downloading the E-Smart Cloud app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, connecting the smart device to the fire's wireless connection (which will have a varying name depending on the model, e.g., "Your Fire's WiFi"), and then opening the E-Smart app.
  • IoT Registration: During the initial setup, users need to scroll down to the 'IoT Registration' section in the app's settings. Here, they must enter their email address and create a password to register the appliance to Evonic Fires' IoT services. If a user hasn't registered on evoflame.co.uk, an account will be automatically created with the provided details. After entering the information, users press 'Save' and then select the grey WiFi button.
  • Router Connection: The app guides users to select their home router from a dropdown box and enter its password. An "eye icon" is available to double-check the password for accuracy. Users then press 'Save and Connect'. It's important to only select 'Static IP' if advised by an IT professional.
  • Pairing Process: The pairing process between the smart device, the fire, and the router can take a few minutes. The app will display "Please wait. Connecting..." and the lighting on the fire may change color, which is normal.
  • Home Page Overview: Once connected, the app's Home Page displays the name of the fire, the chosen temperature, and the actual temperature. On the left side, users can access timer, shop, and app settings. On the right side, there are controls to turn the fire's lights on/off and the heater on/off.
  • Control Overview: By selecting the light bulb icon or the central temperature box, users can access the Control Overview. Here, they can adjust the desired temperature by pressing, holding, and rotating the temperature dial (ensuring the heater is selected on the Home Page first). Flame brightness can also be adjusted by clicking the lighting icon and sliding a tab at the bottom of the screen.
  • Timer Programming: The clock icon on the Home Page allows users to program timers. They can input a desired time, select an action (Fire On/Off, Heater On/Off), choose the days for the timer to apply, and then save. Existing timers can be deleted using a bin icon, and additional timers can be added.
  • Fire Updates: The app facilitates updating the fire's firmware. Users can initiate an update by clicking on a triangular icon next to the fire's name (e.g., "Update" next to "Alisio" or "Avesta"). It's crucial not to turn off the fire during an update, which may take up to 10 minutes.
  • Logging Out: Users can log out of their account by pressing the exit icon in the top right corner of the Home Page. However, it's generally not necessary to log out, as staying logged in allows for quick and easy operation.
  • Device Renaming: In the 'Settings' menu, under 'Device name', users can rename their fire. It's advised not to use numbers or spaces when renaming.

Maintenance Features (Troubleshooting and Resetting):

The manual provides clear instructions for troubleshooting common connection problems and resetting the fire to factory settings:

  • Troubleshooting Connection Problems:

    1. Initial Steps: If experiencing connection issues, users should first switch off both their fire and their internet router.
    2. Re-establishing Connection: Then, switch the fire back on (keeping the router off).
    3. Wi-Fi Settings: Go to the Wi-Fi settings on the smart device, find and select the fire's Wi-Fi network (e.g., "Your Fire's WiFi").
    4. App Settings Check: Open the E-Smart app, go to 'Settings', and in the 'IoT Registration' section, verify that the email and password are correct. The "eye icon" can be used to reveal the password for verification. Click 'Save'.
    5. Wi-Fi Button: Click on the grey 'WiFi' button in the app's settings.
    6. Router Password Check: Ensure the name of the Wi-Fi network and the Wi-Fi password entered are correct. Only specific characters are allowed in the Wi-Fi password: numbers 0-9, upper case letters A-Z, lower case letters a-z, and symbols like ! . , ? + - @.
    7. Static IP: Confirm that 'Set Static IP' is NOT selected.
    8. Save and Connect: Click 'Save and Connect'.
    9. Waiting Period: Allow 2 minutes for the connection process. If it doesn't connect, close the app and proceed to the next step.
    10. Power Cycle: Switch the fire OFF, then switch the internet router ON.
    11. Final Step: Switch the fire ON. The E-Smart Cloud App should now be usable as normal.
    12. Support: If the fire still doesn't connect after repeating these steps, users are advised to contact the service department at 01789 263868 or service@evonicfires.co.uk.
  • Resetting Your Fire:

    • If an incorrect email or password was entered during the initial setup, the fire may need to be reset to factory settings.
    • Prerequisite: Before resetting, the fire must be updated to the latest version. Instructions for updating are found on page 15 of the manual.
    • Reset Procedure: Once the fire is fully updated, it can be reset by turning it off and on at the rocker switch 5 times. It's important to allow 1 second between each click. An audible beep will confirm the reset. After the beep, users can continue with the setup process from page 4 of the manual.
