Painting
The CAPAC
®
system is compatible with any paint system; however,
certain steps can be taken to insure optimum results. The current demand for
protection can be substantially reduced by painting the shaft and propeller. This
procedure will reduce the initial current demand and will reduce the time required
for polarization. Clear vinyl paint may be used. The plastic holder and Capastic
dielectric shield (if needed) around the anode should be painted with antifouling
paint; however, the center area of the anode must never be painted.
(See Figure 3.3).
Electrical Power
This CAPAC
®
system is operated from a 12 V DC source. If the boat is
connected to 110-120V A.C. shore power, it is required that an isolation
transformer or galvanic isolator of sufficient capacity be installed to prevent
improper grounding or the hull or underwater appendages. See inside front
cover Caution Notice B.
