The EW-26 is a recreational scooter designed to enhance mobility in daily activities, such as walking. It is not a medical scooter and is not intended to provide medical benefits, medical assistance, medical therapy, or treat or alleviate any medical condition or disability.
The EW-26 is equipped with several features for ease of use and safety. It includes large aluminum wheels and a large cargo box for storage. Rear view mirrors and a front headlight enhance visibility. The charger port is conveniently located for battery charging. The scooter features a front drum brake for stopping power.
To turn on the scooter for the first time, the circuit breaker switch located underneath the seat must be activated. This is accessed by inserting the key into the ignition and turning it counterclockwise (left) without pushing it in, which releases the seat latch.
The battery power indicator bars light up when the scooter is turned on, displaying the current charge level.
An emergency brake tab is located under the left side of the tiller. To activate, push the pin upwards while squeezing the left brake handle. The bar will travel upwards when the brake handle is approximately halfway. Squeeze the left brake handle to deactivate. This holds tension in the brake lines to keep the unit stationary when not in use.
Tiller controls include a High/Low Headlight Button, Lights Switch, Turn Signal Switch, Horn Button #1, Horn Button #2, Speed Selector Switch, and Forward/Reverse Button. Status lights on the top of the tiller illuminate or flash when a feature is activated.
When operating, always keep your feet on the scooter and do not exceed the weight capacity of 400 LBS. Avoid lifting or moving the scooter by its removable parts, as this can cause injury and damage. Do not use the scooter beyond its described limitations. Connecting unauthorized electrical or mechanical devices to the scooter can result in injury and void the warranty. Always comply with local laws and regulations.
If the scooter is equipped with mirrors, orient them to see behind you while the scooter is stationary. Use headlights and turn signals to increase visibility to other vehicles and pedestrians.
The EW-26 is designed for dry, level ground with concrete or asphalt. Exercise caution on other surfaces like grass or gravel. Do not exceed the specified climbing angle. Always turn the scooter off before getting on or off. Avoid driving in loose gravel, covered soil, or sandstone, and do not drive in unknown road conditions. When encountering small obstacles, minimize speed and drive over them slowly. Do not operate the scooter under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and avoid parking on steep slopes. Modifying the initial settings of the scooter is forbidden. Use caution near busy streets, markets, or shopping centers, and consult local authorities for traffic rules.
Hold the handlebar with both hands and place both feet on the floorboard while driving. Never sit on the scooter in a moving vehicle. Avoid driving on uneven slopes or ground, and be careful when passing over slopes. Do not take the scooter on an escalator. Do not operate on frozen, slippery, or salty roads. Always use required safety equipment. Do not modify the electrical system and frame, as this will void the warranty.
When driving up curbs, ensure the curb height does not exceed 4 inches. Always go forward up ramps and curbs. Avoid stopping completely when going over small objects or obstructions. Approach gradual, smooth curbs head-on and apply consistent speed until the rear wheels have passed. Avoid oblique angles when approaching or descending curbs to prevent tipping.
The scooter can handle a range of inclines and declines and is safe for most handicap-accessible ramps. If the scooter struggles to climb or descends too quickly, apply brakes and seek assistance. Use ramps with roughened surfaces to prevent slipping. Never drive transversely across an incline or turn sharply on one. Avoid driving in reverse down an incline. While eWheels does not guarantee safety on specific angles, it recommends not using the scooter on inclines or declines greater than 10 degrees.
Reduce speed when making sharp turns and control speed when cornering to avoid tipping. The appropriate speed depends on the scooter's specifications, your size and weight, angle of approach, type of turn, and surface conditions.
Exercise care when moving onto the scooter. Ensure it is braked on level ground and switched off. Brace yourself against sturdy furniture or use assistive equipment. Use your upper body to assist your legs in lowering onto the seat slowly. If equipped with a safety belt, use it at all times and ensure it is replaced if frayed or damaged.
The smart charger included with the scooter will shut off its high current mode when fully charged. A red light indicates charging, and a green light indicates a full charge. Unplug the charger within two hours of full charge to prevent overcharging. Charging time varies, taking up to 8 hours if the batteries are almost empty. Do not exceed 8 hours of charging.
Only use recommended batteries; lithium-ion batteries are not suitable. Batteries can be charged as needed without damage. Avoid leaving them on the charger for extended periods. The recommended batteries are (4) 12 volt, 20 AH, Deep Cycle, Maintenance Free, Sealed Lead Acid.
Do not use automotive starter batteries, as they are not designed for deep discharge and are unsafe. Always charge batteries in a well-ventilated area. The charger is for indoor use only. Replace all batteries at the same time if weak. Recharge the scooter at least once a month when not in use to prevent battery deterioration. Never let batteries freeze or charge them when frozen. Do not let batteries go completely dead, as this can cause damage.
Regularly check the scooter for normal operation, loose parts, and defects before use. Repair any problems before operating. Keep the scooter clean and dry. Do not use a high-pressure water sprayer; instead, use a damp sponge or cloth and dry thoroughly. Do not immerse components in water.
Check tires for wear, cracks, nails, or other damage before operating. Keep tires inflated to the recommended pressure and replace them when damaged. Failure to maintain proper tire pressure can cause premature wear, damage, or personal injury.
Do not sit in or operate the scooter in a motor vehicle. Stow or rack the scooter according to the vehicle's guidelines before entering. Never sit in the scooter while it is on or in a moving motor vehicle.
Do not disassemble or modify the scooter on your own. Do not remove or disable any element or feature. Do not modify the programmable controller. Aftermarket products or modifications not approved by eWheels may make the scooter unsafe and impair its operation. eWheels is not responsible for damage or injury caused by unauthorized disassembly, modification, or alteration.
