1.Placeawrenchonthebladeboltandtorqueto:
60-80ft-lb(81-108N-m)forE-andS-Series
Models
50-60ft-lb(68-81N-m)forX-SeriesModels
2.Withthewrenchstillonthebladebolt,hold
thebladespindlestationaryandusingaragor
thicklypaddedglove,trytorotatetheblade.Ifthe
bladerotatesrelativetothespindleguardwithout
furthertighteningthebladebolt,thespring
discwasherhasbeenattenedordamagedand
theboltandwasherassemblymustbereplaced
(Figure64).RefertoRemovingtheBladesand
InstallingtheBlades.
3.Oncethebladehasbeenremoved,inspectthe
springdiscwasher.Ifthewasherappearstobe
damaged(thewashersurfacehasbeenmarred)
orattened,theboltandwasherassemblymust
bereplaced.
RemovingtheBlades
Thebladesmustbereplacedifasolidobjectishit,if
thebladeisoutofbalance,orthebladeisbent.To
ensureoptimumperformanceandcontinuedsafety
conformanceofthemachine,usegenuineExmark
replacementblades.Replacementbladesmadeby
othermanufacturersmayresultinanunsafemachine.
Holdthebladeendusingaragorthickly-padded
glove.Removethebladeboltandwasherassembly
andbladefromthespindleshaft(Figure64).
